Since the FT-60R and FT-60E have been produced for a number of years, I would like to know if Yaesu has introduced modifications during that period. Batteries are available from your authorized Yaesu dealer. OR ... in the US,? batteriesamerica.com has options. The automatic off after a set period is not off enough to stop the battery going flat. So alkaline cells are vulnerable.? Some NiMh cells have a significant self discharge rate so it's charge before use.? The Yaesu charging cradle is very useful. I use a tiger/rat tail/counterpoise and a Comet SMA24 for extended range. THAT’s a great antenna. You can coil it up and store in a ZipLoc(tm) baggie when not in use. Almost as good a performer as the Smiley 270 antenna. Some use a crimp terminal. On my FT70 I put it under a screw that holds the belt clip. Clint Bradford All Messages By This Member #19683 Slap the FBA-23 on the VX-6R, and you have - what? - 300mW TX power for a few minutes Use the FBA-25 on the Ft-60R and you have FULL TX POWER for a few hours.
