Re: Battery FNB-83 Different voltage readings

Diodes are not resistors. Someone stated that the voltage drop in this scenario was caused by a diode. Diodes do not block - they allow current in one direction. Why would a diode cause this voltage drop?

Re: Can't get FT 60R to scan all 5 bands

Thanks, Jardy. Just gives me the selections as turning the dial to ALL. Tried hold the BAND button down too.

Re: Battery FNB-83 Different voltage readings

I may be missing?your?point when you say "diodes acting as resistors" - if so, I apologize.

Diodes only get warm when there is current flowing.? Think of a diode more as a battery. Semiconductor?junctions have voltage drops:??0.7 volts for silicon and 0.3 volts for germanium and they do not vary a?lot as the current changes: they do vary,?just not too much.? When the current is zero thru a diode, the power dissipated?in the diode is zero but the voltage drop?is still present.

Re: Battery FNB-83 Different voltage readings

This is due to voltage drop across the internal diode.

Is there a reason for the voltage difference?

Battery FNB-83 Different voltage readings

Edited

When I charged my 60r to full, I took my vom and measured the voltages at the 3 gold colored contacts on the back of the FNB-83 battery, it is 7.49 I removed the battery and checked the voltage at the 2 (+ & - ) silver colored tabs that connect to the 60r and get a 8.6v reading. When battery is inserted in the 60r I get a 8.6 voltage reading in the display when I turn it on.

Is there a reason for the voltage difference?

Re: Can't delete memories/ any suggestions

My FT60 notes suggest:

DELETE A SAVED MEMORY LOCATION:
- V/M to MR mode, hold F (1 sec), dial to desired memory location, HM/RV to delete

MW / N4MEW

Re: No TX between 146 and 148 mhz

I thought I was alone in putting my radios mostly in storage for years! I¡¯ve had to re-learn FT-60R operation from scratch several times upon its typical once-a-year use.

Now that I¡¯m retired, my FT-60R and two batteries aren¡¯t. They get regular use and I¡¯ve been able to regain my ¡°muscle memory¡± for this model.

My FT-60R has never failed to perform, but I¡¯ve done many resets to factory condition, as an aid to my re-education. I deliberatley do not use programming software and cables. I like being skilled with the keys.

My recently-resurrected 1990-era dual-band mobiles from various makers survived years of disuse in boxes except for the IC-229h. I recently added a used IC-2100 to my shack, mostly for the fun of it. They all compelled me to learn or re-learn the different button sequences.

No TX between 146 and 148 mhz

Hi all.?
Dug out my ft60 after a few years on storage.
Plugged into cig lighter and fired up. Battery dead, bought a new pack. Received inserted and fully charged it. Radio switched on and worked well, but NO transmit on any freq between 146 and 148. This is a VK version so it should.
Tried a full reset. No difference.
Any tips or tricks will be great acknowledged.
Cheers
Ralph

Re: problem FT-60

We who live near radio retailers are lucky.?Having goodies shipped to me is quick and convenient but is missing just a little bit of the magic.

I¡¯ve been able to ¡°go to¡± HRO in San Diego, Atlanta very easily and now¡ªless easily but still in range¡ªDelaware. I bought my FT-60R (and a spare battery ?) at New Castle. We have to pass New Castle twice on every trip to visit family in Rehoboth Beach.

Happy radio. Happy?Thanksgiving.

I have not used my FT-60 for awhile. The battery was 6.8, I charged it. It now is 7.4
When I push the PTT the radio turns off and then turns back on. Has anyone had this happen? What is the fix to this problem? I used the RT System programming software with their cable USB-57A
Thanks in advance for any help.
