One FT60R works just fine.? Print out this sheet of frequencies. https://www.work-sat.com/ewExternalFiles/FM-VOICE-SATS-12-2020d.pdf The FT60R allows you to program MEMORY BANKS.? Mine is

Re: REASONS WHY THE YAESU FT-60R IS MY EDC PORTABLE RADIO
For years, the FT51R was my handheld.? Tried some others, none of them came up to the 51R -- reliable, bulletproof, good choice of accessories, easy to program, intuitive keypad. I resisted the

Re: REASONS WHY THE YAESU FT-60R IS MY EDC PORTABLE RADIO
Personally ?I think the FT 60 is one of the best radios ?ever made ...Well it has some shortcomings however the construction of this radio is unreal. I used to work on the Vertex Line of radios

Re: Smart Search memories
You can force the scan to end rapidly by breaking squelch, either with the squelch button on the side of the HT, or by rotating the squelch control fully counter-clockwise.? This rapidly fills up the

Re: FT-60 audio a bit muffled just for m the radio no Speaker mic...
Thanks Chuck The membrane resides on the inside of the case of the radio ...It is not the rubber around the mic element itself ...Just tor clarify...To me it looks like a piece of Gortex material

Re: FT-60 audio a bit muffled just for m the radio no Speaker mic...
Well I did the mod and of course to me it sounds better and got rid of the Low Freq response.. Now I know it might be controversial however.."I did not remove the membrane on the Mic itself" Only the

Re: FT-60 audio a bit muffled just for m the radio no Speaker mic...
Yes that little worked I have much better frequency response now with less muffled audio... I am the owner of a Motorola APX 8000 radio and I have to say my Yaesu FT-60 sound almost as good

Re: FT-60 audio a bit muffled just for m the radio no Speaker mic...
The microphone inside the radio is an electret. The membrane to which I believe you are referring too is a formed rubber dampener. The microphone is about 0.25 inch in diameter and a cylinder about

Whoever told you to remove a membrane should NOT be trusted ... Check your deviation setting. Has your radio been subjected to moisture? -- Clint Bradford K6LCS http//www.work-sat.com

Yes. I’ve heard that too. Give it a try and see what happens.. *Scott J. Dickinson, Esq.*

Re: FT-60 audio a bit muffled just for m the radio no Speaker mic...
Also, wouldn't removing or puncturing that membrane make the microphone element more prone to plosives? (p-pops, breath noise, etc.) I talk almost right against, but ACROSS the front of my HT's, and

Re: FT-60 audio a bit muffled just for m the radio no Speaker mic...
I don't think the FT-60 needs it. Where some Yaesu radios seem to have nothing but highs on analog FM, the FT-60 has just enough to be nice and clear.

FT-60 audio a bit muffled just for m the radio no Speaker mic...
Has anyone modded there FT 60 to get more high Freq response? I heard you can remove the membrane that is on the inside of the case to get better mic response...I will try this as I have two of these

Re: Restart on UHF PTT
I have exactly the same problem, on UHF only (even though radio shows 8.4V after charging). Connected the FT-60's battery contacts (on the radio) to an external DC PS and it worked fine on UHF. Bought

Re: Restart on UHF PTT
Your batteries might have the voltage on powerup, but not the amperage. If you can plug in your radio thru a cigarette lighter plug, you can test this. The light plug will put out more amperage.

Re: Restart on UHF PTT
The one with the UHF problem may be drawing excessive current at high power. Does the LCD display blink out when you key up? Many newer radios monitor for low battery voltage and shut down until the

I have 2 FT-60's. One works fine, one shuts down and restarts when I transmit on UHF at high power. Only on high power; does not do this on Low or ExLow power. Switched out identical antennas between
