Re: FT-60 Possible Problem- suggestions?
I think a good solution is to purchase one or two of the AA-cell battery trays for the radio (I just have one tray, but have been thinking of getting one more), each of which holds six batteries. Then

Re: FT-60 Possible Problem- suggestions?
Hey Fred and All,
As you said "OH dont throw away the old battery" when
you have the time, you can disassemble them, and make

Re: FT-60 Possible Problem- suggestions?
It works fine on the car cig lighter plug, so pretty much confirms bad battery. Have a new one on order. Appreciate the feed back.

I did check the offsets, etc. and those were ok.

Re: FT-60 Possible Problem- suggestions?
If you are trying to transmit outside the ham bands, the radio will beep and show 'error'. Turning off and on is a bad battery, even if voltage shows high enough on power on. If it works when on a

Re: FT-60 Possible Problem- suggestions?
Hank,
You might also check the offset. I did this, and the offset frequency was OUTSIDE the hamabands, even though the recieve frequency was inside the hambands. I checked the offset and it appears

Re: FT-60 Possible Problem- suggestions?
It sounds like the battery voltage is pk under the light load condition of receiving. Batteries often start to fail by not being able to supply high current..

Re: FT-60 Possible Problem- suggestions?
Sounds like a bad battery or you are trying to transmit while charging. Plugged into a cigarette lighter plug will work, the wall wart won't.
