Re: I'm expected to be comm support for the Boston Marathon tomorrow at 4:45 EDT. But I can't program the repeaters into my FT60R
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýYou have to be in vfo mode to program channels, not memory mode. The 430.000 is a default frequency, the flashing 001 indicates that channel 001 is the first empty channel. Press vfo/mr again so the flashing 001 disappears. Use either the keypad or rotary dial to enter your desired receive frequency, then follow Clint¡¯s cheat sheet from there.?Jardy Dawson WA7JRD Message sent through sub space hailing frequencies?using the Universal Translator.? ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýVandy, ? It isn¡¯t that one doc is better than another. People just learn in different ways. Here is my unofficial user¡¯s manual. I know it has a lot more than you need, but maybe it will work for you. I use lots of pictures and text to clarify the official manual: ? ? Rick ? ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Vandy Olmstead ? Yes, I'm using the keyboard and, thanks to all the wonderful folk here (like you) I'm certain of what I'm doing. |

Colin's cheat sheet is a simple as it gets and very complete.
After restating the rig while pressing the MONI switch and hitting the ALLRST, I press the V/M key to toggle from VFO to Memory. ?There in the number 1 memory position is 430.000. ?I can't make it go away. ?While it's there, I can't replace it. ?I twist the knob to put the freq in another location, I get six dots with no ability to edit them. ?I think Yaesu is deceased? ?Can we make it Lazarus, perhaps? |

I'll cut an paste from another response to see if you have any ideas? ??When we get to press F/W key for one second, the frequency I've programmed is replaced by 430.00 and CANNOT be edited. ?The 001 blinks in the upper left corner but there is no changing 430.00. ?I've cleared it out at least five times with the ALLRST by restarting with MONI switched but to no avail. ?Anybody have an idea of how to replace 430.00? |

You know, I agree with everything said positive about my FT60R. ?But I'm afraid it's gone over the the enemy. ?I follow the Cheat Sheet exactly. ?When we get to press F/W key for one second, the frequency I've programmed is replaced by 430.00 and CANNOT be edited. ?The 001 blinks in the upper left corner but there is no changing 430.00. ?I've cleared it out at least five times with the ALLRST by restarting with MONI switched but to no avail. ?Anybody have an idea of how to replace 430.00?

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýYou cannot get a ham radio easier to manually program than the FT-60. All the main functions you need are on the 1-4 keys on the keyboard. If anyone can translate the documentation with the traps outlined where you can easily go wrong, I would be most appreciative and so will the people who are counting on me, at the moment - in vain.

My solution to getting Chirp to work with my three FT-60's was to get a better cable.? I purchased a cable which used an FTDI chip rather than a Prolific chip for the USB to serial conversion.? I haven't had any problems since.? The cable I'm using is sourced from KJ6ZWL via Amazon (). His company name on Amazon & eBay is "Bluemax49ers".? I've purchased several cables from him and not been disappointed.

No need to purchase the RT system There is two ways to upload the Ft 60 into chirp, look in the chirp help file as it explain both options, as I had the same issue.? On Tue, Apr 2, 2019, 7:44 PM Anon Anon <lecontejoe@...> wrote: Get the RT Systems programming software and cable. |
Re: Availability in Europe (2019) ?
Agree 100% with Clint. IMHO, the FT-65 is in no way a "successor" for the FT-60. Now, an honest question: If the FT-60E has been discontinued, and even though Yaesu USA has stated several times recently that the FT-60R is still in the market and it is not being discontinued... Does someone recall Yaesu (or any other big manufacturer, for that matter) sharing in advance their plans about discontinuing any particular product? Sellers, sometimes, use that as a selling strategy. Manufacturers... rarely; they just do it (as Yaesu, apparently, has done with the FT-60E in Europe). I was waiting for a huge discount sale of FT-60s when the FT-70DR appeared, but that didn't happen. On the other hand, it is the new FT-70DR the one that has been on sale for several months now.? ? 73, Marcelo W6EUH |
Re: Availability in Europe (2019) ?
I will agree that the FT-60 is a fine radio, superior to the
FT-65. It's my primary HT for PS events.
The FT-60E does not appear on the Yaesu.com US site, but does on and the German distributor, WiMo. I think the only difference is the firmware being customized to comply with regional restrictions on band plan, but is not changeable. Re: Availability in Europe (2019) ?
Hi,
according to a large retailer in Germany, the FT-60E is no longer available, at least cant be ordered by them online anymore... Seems that the FT-65 took over (for 98€) Maybe they still sell it in the USA but seems to be no longer available on this side of the pond... 73's de DL2KBC |
