Squelch issue
I have a FT60 that has a squelch issue. it goes from all the way open to all the way closed at mid point (ie 12 o'clock). When it closes, it is like the squelch is all the way.
So far, I have done the following: I have replaced both the control and, the board with the control/vol/selector. Looks like the rubber between the main board and daughter board is not working right. I have flipped it both vertical and horizontal(4 possibilities). It seems to make no difference. Yaesu tech support does not have the rubber cable anymore. Any suggestions? Otherwise I may look for a dead radio to get just for the cable. De kd4wov Tom Sent via BlackBerry by AT&T |

Has he tried holding the #6 key which locks & unlocks the keypad &/or channel selector knob depending on how the lock menu item is set up. John N4SME On Friday, August 5, 2016 7:52 AM, "godly_mistle@... [FT-60]" wrote:

Re: unable to change frequencies
开云体育If the "6" keys is pressed and held, that locks the controls on the radio. To unlock the controls, just hold "6" key down again.

I have Motorola, Yaesu, Icom, and Wouxun HT's that all came from the factory with Li-Ion batteries and have had no problems whatsoever. On another note, perhaps the problem is with your charger. 73, Jim K5JG On 8/3/2016 12:55 PM, Nolan@... [FT-60] wrote:

LI-ION battery issues ?
Just curious if anyone has experienced problems using LI-ION batteries in their FT-60?
I bought one earlier this year and after charging with proper charging device used the HT a few times with no issues. Fast forward to the past two days and again made sure the battery was charged and tried to prep for a local club event and the HT shuts down after about 20-seconds of talk time.? Appears to be no power in the LI-ION battery.? I put the original battery back in the FT-60 and all is working fine. I'm doing some more trouble-shooting now to see if I can continue to repeat the failure. Site I bought the battery from is processing an RMA as there is a one-year warranty so I don't have any concerns there, but the location did mention that some HTs are not happy with the LI-ION chemistry. Thus the reason for my post.? I'm just looking for some data if anyone else has experienced similar. 73, Nolan K. KI5IO |
Re: Best antenna for airband (108-137Mhz) reception?
Jim,
For base station use, I have good luck with a 300 ohm dipole hung vertically. I put mine about 30ft up in a big oak tree in my back yard, but attic deployment works OK as long as you dont have tile roof (tile normally has high metal content shielding out signals). You can build from scratch, or if you have an FM dipole laying around, just cut it down for resonance at mid band, say 123 MHz. Feed it with a 75:300 TV transformer you have lying around and run coax as far as you want. Terminate with cable TV connector and purchase adapter for SMA or BNC as you wish. Good luck and best 73's, Dave KG4MGB ============= Hello, What is a good recommendation for an antenna for the 108-137Mhz range? I currently have a Diamond SRH77CA on my FT-60r, but it's failing to pick up traffic whereas my CCrane with a short telescopic chrome antenna receives fine. Per the FT-60R specs in the back of the manual, Air Band sensitivity is .8uv which is much worse than the .2uv on 2m and 70cm. The reduced sensitivity coupled with an antenna not designed for the band makes for less than stellar performance. You might want to take look at the Comet SMA-503. It's specs say it covers down to 118 MHz, so it might work ok on the Air Band as well. 73, Jim K5JG On 7/20/2016 6:25 PM, Jim Popovitch jimpop@... [FT-60] wrote:

Re: Best antenna for airband (108-137Mhz) reception?
I don't think you are going to get any s\mall antenna that will be a big inprovement over the stock antenna. It will tune down there but is not designed to be a airband receiver. ?
