Mac OS X 10.9, 10.10, 10.11, Chirp, and FTDI Cables
In the hopes it will help someone else, resolving?
on my Mac running El Capitan came down to finding out that I had installed FTDI drivers on a previous version of Mac OS X (10.8 or earlier) and those drivers (v2.2.18) are not the proper drivers for 10.9 Mavericks, 10.10 Yosemite, or 10.11 El Capitan. You can tell which driver you have through a Terminal window (emphasis mine)

The Apple driver I see with 10.11.3 is com.apple.driver.AppleUSBFTDI (5.0.0)? The FTDI-supplied driver is v2.3, according to? At least for me, the Apple driver is working with my Valley Enterprises cable. One can disable the older FTDI driver:
or permanently remove them with:

Re: Help wiring a mic adapter!
If you really must use this mic, you will need to make an adapter cable. ?The FT-60R uses a ?3.5MM TRRS connector. ?you can get these from e-bay, just search "3.5MM TRRS"
Be aware that the difference in impedance will make your transmissions sound quieter because the input voltage will be lower. ?DO NOT USE A "POWER MIC" you will just over deviate your transmissions and you will sound terrible. |

Hi, I would like to use my favorite mic, a Cobra 4 pin with the FT60r. Is it possible to make an adaptor for this or are the 2 incompatible? Attached are wiring diagrams for both. I think the Cobra is 1k and the Yaesu is 2k impedance.? Thanks for any help, Jon

I don't have that much expertise on the matter. Good luck, hope you find your answer. SEP On Friday, January 29, 2016 7:04 PM, "jon1967us@... [FT-60]" wrote:

Re: RX problems unless I turn on RF Squelch
thanks wassim for the reply. i guess the unit needs servicing. ?tried it out on different frequencies, all the same. on one frequency, rx is S4 on both full squelch and engaging rf squelch, while on my ft270, signal is full. regarding the group's policy, so sorry it missed putting my name and call. thanks again and 73! Re: RX problems unless I turn on RF Squelch
开云体育Hello Gcmateo How weak is the signal that you are trying to receive? Can you test your radio with a friend in an open field say far away from you that you can see him/her but not hear him/her at all using your ears. If at the distance you need full squelch then your radio needs servicing. If you can hear your friend at normal squelch then the signal you are trying to hear is too weak to get to you. Try going outside, high and point your radio to the general direction of the transmitter. Hope this helps. Also please sign your messages with name and call sign. I think it is Group policy. Re: No audio except on repeater frequencies where I have entered CTCSS
Jim K5JG
Correct. The audio frequency response of a repeater receiver typically will not pass a CTCSS tone through to the transmitter.

That's why the repeaters that DO transmit tone have a dedicated encoder for the transmitter. 73, Jim K5JG clint@... [FT-60] wrote: 1. Most of the repeaters in my region do NOT pass their tones through to the output. |

开云体育I have set the all repeaters that I manage to transmit 88.5 Hz, which gives users the option to use full CTCSS if they want to. My ft60 has full CTCSS on the VHF repeater channel in memory. France has never got around to regionalising repeaters into tone groups like the UK has, so although the distances are great with co channel repeaters, it does help when other repeaters come up in propagation. Re: No audio except on repeater frequencies where I have entered CTCSS
Personally, I do not have ANY of my local repeaters set to TONE SQ - where the unit TX a tine and is set to only break squelch if it hears an incoming tone. Two main reasons:
1. Most of the repeaters in my region do NOT pass their tones through to the output. 2. And if they did, I might accidentally interrupt someone else on the same freq several miles away. Clint K6LCS |
Re: No audio except on repeater frequencies where I have entered CTCSS
I think the first thing I would look at is do I have the decode turned on. If you have repeater channels in memory and have the correct codes set up and are hearing them when stopped on that frequency then you should hear them if you are scanning the memory channels. ? I have entered ?CTCSS ?minus offset on both 2 meter and 70 cm repeater frequencies ?per pages 22-23 of FT-60R/E operating manual. The audio opens up when I PTT or another signal is present on those frequencies. However, there is no audio when I scan these bands although I can see there is ongoing activity on other frequencies. Re: No audio except on repeater frequencies where I have entered CTCSS
开云体育This would have to be done on each channel, as it is not a universal setting. (F) 1 works, also.? Jardy Dawson WA7JRD Nobody really cares what device you are using, as long as YOU like it! On Jan 4, 2016, at 05:29, Jim K5JG k5jg@... [FT-60] <FT-60@...> wrote:

It sounds like you may have "SQL.TYP" set to TSQL for all memory channels and the VFO instead of using TONE as your default setting.

When you see activity on a frequency but you are unable to hear anything, check to see if the small "SQ" is shown at the top of the display. If it is, go to the SET Menu, select SQL.TYP, press and release the F/W key, and change the setting to TONE and see what happens. 73, Jim K5JG On 1/3/2016 10:12 PM, anselaw@... [FT-60] wrote:
