Re: better antenna for FR 60R
开云体育Hi Ed Happy New Year to you. I see that you have some good replies to your antenna question and I will add that my favorite antenna for the FT-60R is the?Diamond SRHF40A. It is not too expensive about $30.00 but it has this flexible mast that will not poke you when you have the radio on your hip. It has great performance on both bands in my opinion. 73 Wassim WN6WJN |
Re: better antenna for FR 60R
开云体育I've also been experimenting with an added counterpoise (sometimes mentioned in the literature under the name "Tiger Tail"). It takes the form of a piece of wire soldered?to a ring connector just large enough to fit over the antenna stud. It too seems to help.? +++++ Jerry, kg7nor +++++ Live simple, love well, and take time to smell the flowers along the way. ~ Mark Twain On Dec 28, 2015, at 11:41, Bill Boyer daweasel@... 开云体育Diamond SRH77CA if you absolutely prefer to keep with an SMA connection, Diamond RH77CA with the Diamond BNCJ-SMAP adaptor is preferable if you will be changing antennas often as the SMA jack is not rated for as many connect-disconnect cycles as the BNC connector is. 73 de Mark, KK6OTJ On Dec 27, 2015, at 8:47 PM, "anselaw@... Re: better antenna for FR 60R
开云体育Depends on what you primarily listen to. Any “rubber duck” that is “wide-band” is going to be a compromise. Some are better than others. Austin Condor is a good one as are the ones by Diamond and Pryme. If you listen to services primarily on 800, then you’re better off getting a dedicated 800 Mhz antenna. But even a dual-band or multi-band antenna will do “ok” on 800. However, an 800 antenna won’t be so good on the other bands. I’m not aware of any single “rubber duck” antenna that works equally well on all bands. If there is, I’m sure someone here will mention it.

Re: Error 8002 using commander software
开云体育It seems like about every six months (I suspect associate with operating system updates) the com port changes which?produces all kinds of errors including the 8002 on one occasion. I keep trying new com ports until I find the one that works. +++++ Jerry, kg7nor +++++ Live simple, love well, and take time to smell the flowers along the way. ~ Mark Twain On Dec 27, 2015, at 19:33, Jardy Dawson JARDY72@... In case anyone googles this in the future. The cable is working fine and I was able to get it to work with my Windows 10 I just had to use the Chirp software, the Commander software seems to have been the problem. Thank you everyone for your help!

开云体育Try using the 'alternate write method' with Commander. Jardy Dawson WA7JRD Ham Radio On Dec 27, 2015, at 11:32, johnthompson2007@... [FT-60] <FT-60@...> wrote:

Re: Just got my radio tonight Merry Christmas!
开云体育Merry Christmas Gary Well 10 mins is more than zero, so at least you are working on it. There is such a thing called Mic Fright, where new members feel shy or self conscious about sending their voice over to some other stranger or friend. GET OVER IT FAST. You spent the time and money to get where you are your return on investment should be realized. Joining the ARRL and a local club, these are 2 items on my Top 10 Things You Should do in your First Year as a licensed radio operator. Good job, and now you have 8 more to accomplish in 2016 and beyond. I bet you are saying OK what are the rest: I want you to learn how to quickly set up your radio to operate on a certain frequency, with tone and without, with offset and simplex. And by quickly I mean with no help from any source like as if I asked you to turn it on and off. This is a skill that importing frequencies (aka programming your radio) via software to your radio has diminished but yet it is important to know. I'll send you the rest separately so that I don't deviate from the topic. As to starting a ?"newbie net in my area" ask your fellow club members to join, you need experienced Elmers and tenderfoots alike. Set a day and time and invite them to chime in on a certain repeater or simplex if applicable. Go for it, push that PTT and announce your call sign. You will be amazed. 73 Wassim WN6WJN |
Re: Battery Eliminator Info?
I have used a battery eliminator from BatteriesAmerica.com - the CBE-V57 - for many years on a HX-370 marine radio, VXA-300 aircraft radio, and - of course - the FT-60R. ?Never have had any problems. ?It is not in continuous,?daily use, however. Has anyone had experience of using the dummy battery cases fitted with a voltage regulator that let you use the FT60 via the 12 volt socket fitted in cars? These units are available from ebay sellers in China. Are they safe to use? Has anyone had any issues with them? 73, David - G4EDR

开云体育I have plugged my HT into many 12V sources - car, battery, power supplyand never used anything but the Yaesu cords.? I personally do not trust the junk you see on ebay. I would recommend the Yaesu SDD-13 cable / regulator. 73 Joel On 12/26/2015 07:48 AM,
