G4FHQ software is my favourite for FT60. I did find a bug which I emailed to Bob, the same day he emailed back a patched version to test and report the result back to him. Who could ask for better service?

Assume you're referring to the FTB60 software by G4HFQ. If so, I use it and am very happy with it.

Press and hold the band key, rotate the knob to select no bank, then tap v/m. Thos shouldget you out of bank mode. Refer to manual page 33.

After trying all sorts of things at Rob's suggestion, I shipped it back this morning. Either I have a defective interface box or cables, or a defective radio. We shall see...

Do you mean G4FHQ??

If so, Yes works very well for the price.

Yes, the 4 pin plugs (I have the speaker mic) are slightly different.

Dr. Dramatization

often windoZ will assign the port
someone said they had to load the drivers each time
then plug in the cable in order to read/write their ft60

there is probably some way to
address it manually
but, that is the solution I recall being posted

peace,

haans :)

Bought my cable from Bob G4HFQ. Worked fine with my VX-150 but had the same problem when I used it with my FT-60R. With Bob's help, we discovered the plug was not making full contact on the FT-60R end. Shaved about 1mm off the shoulder and the problem was resolved.

Got the interface box and the cable for my FT-60R. Used the "Commander" software. All FB, reads radio, saved file, made a few tweeks to the file, and wrote to the radio.

Today, I decided to make a few more changes. Can't read to the radio. Can't write to the radio. I have the proper COM port, the COM port/cable test program says cable is Ok. The interface to radio cable rings out OK with an Ohm meter. No shorts, only one signal wire is supposed to be there, by my understanding.

Tried re-installing the driver and software, got a copy of the control program from the guy in the UK as well. No joy.

Symptom - software attempts to read/write from/to radio. I go through the song and dance to get into "clone" mode with Rx or Tx, as appropriate. Nothing happens.

Surely nothing obvious. Also reset the radio, just in case something was funny. Radio programs fine manually.

Have an e-mail in to Rob McGarty at ttl2USB.COM, but have not received a reply.

Any bright ideas?? Unless I have a screwed up/defective radio, the problem seems to be on the radio side of the interface. BTW, the jumper inside the interface is pushed on correctly.

Re: Charging

?
no light or anything
?
it should fully recharge in about 10 hours
if battery has never been charged before, charge it for about 24 hours
i recommend getting the 1.5 hour drop in chrager which does have a light to show status

Just received my FT60 and had a quick question. When you plug it in to charge, is there suppose to be a light or something to show that it is charging?

Thanks

Re: Battery charging time

not sure about charge time on the car charger, but I do remember it shouldn't be left on it all the time as there's no over charge check done.

I just charge over night on the wall wart and it's done.

UPS delivered my FT-60 today. The manual says to let it charge for ten hours. How long does it take the included charger to bring the battery to full charge under normal use? Is the car charger any faster?

I'm new to the world of HAM, but I do not know what programming is needed for the FT-60. I just saved my local repeaters in memory and gave them a name. Is there more that I am missing. I don't have any programming cable. ???
