Try an external speaker, maybe by chance the jack is bad or the speaker.

You might consider downloading the schematics and board layout from YEASU'S website and following the xmit audio signal thru the set until you find where it's lost.? Might be an easy fix.

Yes, too bad. You will find something. I had mine for sale but changed my mind when I saw the 70r I believe does not have a knob for squelch.
It's always fun window shopping though for a new radio.

They do not. I did check a lot of settings like shift and w/n but also did
a complete factory reset that cleared all settings.

You can also purchase the Yaesu E-DC-6 cable with plug attached, it's a
right angle plug and the cable is nicely terminated with a stress
relief section.

Commander Software works at all of my FT-60R HTs. That's eight out of eight. So your problem is either the cable, or something has been done to the radio to make it different.
