You might consider downloading the schematics and board layout from YEASU'S website and following the xmit audio signal thru the set until you find where it's lost.? Might be an easy fix.

Yes, too bad. You will find something. I had mine for sale but changed my mind when I saw the 70r I believe does not have a knob for squelch.?
It's always fun window shopping though for a new radio. Lots out there to choose from.
