Re: Transmission Problems
Ok, the frequency shift is normal. Look up as to how repeaters work. Get the correct repeater frequencies for your area. Program in the correct PL tones. That is about all there is to it. There is a

Re: Transmission Problems
From your description is sounds as though you ARE transmitting but you have programmed the FT transmit to an offset of + 5 MHz. The handbook is quite difficult to understand from scratch as there is a

Re: Transmission Problems
You are NOT hearing them direct - not are they hitting your local repeater. They are probably using Echolink or a VOIP service: Their local repeater is tied to the Internet, and so is your local

Re: Transmission Problems
Your local repeaters probably require a TONE to access them - what you have done is turned SQUELCH/TONES OFF in both TX and RX. So find out what the access tone is, and set SQUELCH TYPE back to TONE.

Re: Power Problem
The power plug is the same as the FT-817ND, IIRC. One of the issue we see is the little yellow ring at the end breaking off and getting lodged in the power jack, rendering it unusable.

Re: Power Problem
From the description of the problem, it sounds like the power Jack is bad. There is a switch contact that opens up when the plug is inserted that re-directs power to charge the battery and power the

Re: Power Problem
Probably you have a dead battery now. And that's why HAMs said they used a timer (setting to charge 5-10 minutes in every 30 minutes or an hour to prevent overcharging) to charge the battery whilst

90% of the time the radio was run off the battery. I would hook it to the car charger when the battery voltage get to around 7 volts. Then after I felt it was sufficiently charged I would again run it

Call Yaesu tech support and ask them. It's free. I would not do any resets until you see if the problem can be cured without doing the resets. You don't want to loose all of your memory channels if

Re: FT-60R worked great through Irene
Good idea. Easy to do that. I have the FT-60R on a light timer. Could easily add the SLA as well, but before the timer, of course. I usually have the SLA out for something or other at least once a

Keep SLA batteries charged.? After 3 months off the charger, the plates will become sulfated and the battery cannot be rescued (I learned this the hard way).? I keep my?2 Ah and & Ah SLA batteries

Re: FT-60R worked great through Irene
The car lighter adapter and a 7 AH gel cell provide an excellent emergency supply for the FT-60R. Fit a "pigtail" to the gel cell, as well as a cable for its charger. Doubles as a "bench" power
