The power plug is the same as the FT-817ND, IIRC. One of the issue we see is the little yellow ring at the end breaking off and getting lodged in the power jack, rendering it unusable.
? From the description of the problem, it sounds like the power Jack is bad.? There is a switch contact that opens up when the plug is inserted that re-directs power to charge the battery and power the radio. I would guess that the switch contact on the power jack is not making contact when the plus is removed from
the radio.? I would think that it could be repaired fairly easily. I agree that you should call Yaesu and see what they say.
