FT60 Packet Digirig Soundmodem Winlink
I've had intermittent success and failure with Winlink Packet.? Seems to be that the Sound settings in Windows is the last, and most delicate factor.? I would appreciate a copy of somebody's successful setup achieve Winlink Packet service.? I also use AGWPE settings for connecting with a local BBS system on Port 8000, along with Port 8001 for Kiss.? APRS is also of interest, but Packet Winlink is the high priority for me.
?
I'm searching for a PrintScreen image of settings for:
?
SoundModem Devices? (Sound Card and Server,)
SoundModem Modem
Packet Winlink Session Settings
?
I'm also curious about TXdelay, and whether this is an issue for the FT60.? Similarly, whether TXtail and if any RX Shift is advisable.? Mine shows a 30Hz shift.
?
Thank you,

Re: Yaesu SCU-36 cloning cable wiring diagram (FT-65R)
Not a problem, sir!? I appreciate your trying to help in the first place.
?
By the way, I can confirm that the following 2.5mm male-to-male TRS cable indeed works perfectly for cloning FT-65Rs.
?
$8.29 for a pair of the cables:

Re: Yaesu SCU-36 cloning cable wiring diagram (FT-65R)
I did a little more research and it's apparently a 2.5mm (not a 3.5mm) TRS cable between the microphone jacks on each radio.

Ah gotcha, so just straight-through connections from end to end.? T to T, R to R, S to S.? Thanks!

Re: Mic Gain Adjustment
开云体育As Clint points out, you may have the Deviation set to "Narrow" +/-2.5KHz instead of the default "Wide" +/-5KHz. See manual page 62.The other possibility is the FT-60R Mic socket itself. It is notorious for "spitting out" speaker/mic connectors. Elastic bands are one solution as mentioned elsewhere. That is what I currently use:-) I also had many hours of hair-tearing frustration trying to get Chirp to connect via an after market programming lead. The problem is the inside diameter of the recess at the connector is too small for the majority of (industry standard?) connector shells. This results in the plug not fully seating, resulting in the connector contacts actually pushing the plug out instead of locking it in. In my case with the programming lead, I carefully filled the moulded plastic body down to fit into the recess. That all works now. In the case of the Heil mic, it could be that the connector body is fouling on the recess, preventing proper insertion of the plug. Measure the mic plug body and the recess with a pair of vernier calipers to see if it will actually fit correctly. A more universal fix would be to make up a Forstner type drill bit to ease out the connector recess in the FT-60R to the bigger "industry standard" diameter. The difference is subtle, probably something like 6mm versus 1/4". Sorry, my calipers are in the shed, it is late at night here and it is bucketing down with rain. Re: Another Headset Issue
The rubber bands they (used to?) have on broccoli?work well and last. FWIW: I understand the issue isn't that something is broken in the FT-60 but rather that the round portion of the connector you are plugging?in is not quite the correct shape for the FT60.? I'm not sure what the correct shape is.... On Sun, Nov 17, 2024 at 12:16?PM Chris Smart via <ve3rwj=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: Mic Gain Adjustment
Let's simplify this. If purchased new from an authorized Heil and Yaesu dealer,?
that Heil mini-boom single-sided headset work great. There is no widespread?
problem with that combination of items.
?
SO ... if the Heil isn't working well, the chance that it is defective is slim. A
possibility - but slim.
?
A common error on our part is messing with the TX Deviation of the FT-60R.?

Re: Mic Gain Adjustment
开云体育Well...Heil's website is awful.? I don't think "Dynamic" refers to the microphone element type.? When you click on it it takes you to a review page. If you click on "specs" it says... 73, Gary K9GS -------- Original message -------- From: Chris Smart <ve3rwj@...> Date: 11/17/24 10:54 AM (GMT-05:00) Subject: Re: [Yaesu-FT-60] Mic Gain Adjustment ? Well an electret microphone element must have DC bias to function.? ? On the product page at the Heil site, I see four links: ? DESCRIPTION DYNAMIC IC SPECS ? Given that Dynamic and IC are separate items, I figure there is a difference that goes beyond the connector type. |
Another Headset Issue
I have several headsets/speaker mics to use with my FT-60Rs. The audio on all of them seems fine. My problem is with the plug. It seems the slightest jostling and the plug comes out just a little resulting in a dead key with no audio. Of course I cannot hear this in the earpiece, so I don't know it is happening until someone near me yells out "Open Mic".
?
Has anybody found a good way to hold the plug in? I have several devices that use TRRS jacks and have no problem holding the plug, but both my FT-60Rs seem to have the issue.

Re: Mic Gain Adjustment
开云体育Well an electret microphone element must have DC bias to function.? Maybe the Yaesu version of this headset uses a dynamic element?? I tried but failed to find an owners manual on the Heil website. 73, Gary K9GS -------- Original message -------- From: Chris Smart <ve3rwj@...> Date: 11/17/24 10:02 AM (GMT-05:00) Subject: Re: [Yaesu-FT-60] Mic Gain Adjustment ? Re: Mic Gain Adjustment
开云体育? Does anyone have a suggestion for adjusting mic gain on the FT-60? I need to increase it to use a Heil HTHY headset. As I said in my other reply, make sure you are talking into eather end of the capsule, not the side, and have it about an inch from your mouth, if not closer. Make sure the plug is firmly seated. I haven’t had a single problem with several HTH headsets for yaesu and Kenwood HT’s here. |
