Hello Mark,
I finally got brave and decided to do an F1 SETRST.
That has fixed the problem:-)
I was very reluctant to do any level of reset before backing the
radio up as I have a LOT of stuff programmed into the radio.
But now that I can program my FT-60R from the keyboard again, I will
try to make up an adapter cable for one of my other genuine Prolific
cables for another radio and use Chirp to back it up. And to tidy up
the programming whilst I am at it.
Thanks to all who responded. And to KG7MQL for his great treatise on
interpreting the Yaesu handbook in the Files section of this group.

You've also tried the minor Reset of the radio as well,
short of clearing your memory settings as well?

Hi Kelly,
No, keyboard lock is not on.
I can go through the process of programming a new channel or
transferring a channel to a bank, but when I press whatever
key is required to complete the step, PTT, V/M, etc, the
radio just does not accept the change.
Very frustrating.

Did you check to see if the keyboard lock
is on?? There will be key icon on the display when this
is on.? Press and hold the 6 key to toggle this.

Hello All,
I posted a similar plea to this previously but did not
get a reply. Fingers crossed this time...
I can not program my FT-60R from the keyboard anymore.
S/No 6N450402 Made in Japan:-)
And yes, I know how to do it. I have had the radio for
many, many years and recently tried to set up another
bank for a special event.
The radio will no longer accept any manual programming.
I can't find a "Program Lockout" SET function.
I read somewhere that the memory programming either gets
corrupted or the memory chip programming capability goes
faulty.
And that the system firmware cannot be rewritten via the
normal programming port the way modern radios can. (FW
in Masked ROM???)
Otherwise the radio works fine. I can use existing
memory locations and Banks just fine and VFO operation
is fine.
I just can't program new channels or Banks.
Haven't tried Chirp.
I am reluctant to to use any of the F1-F4 Memory Clear
functions in case the Memory Write function is, in fact,
unusable as I have an awful lot of channels
preprogrammed.
Does anyone have any experience in this regard?
Any assistance welcome.
