Hi, Jayne!
And welcome to the FT-60 and ham worlds!
I've had my unit for years and worn out several batteries and wouldn't trade it for anything.? If I remember correctly the early FT-60s were able to recharge the batteries when they were plugged into a power source however since then the later production models of the FT-60's power supplies only operate the radio but no longer charge it.
I've often mentioned that the radio was introduced in 2004 and it is still in production but if they ever decide to stop producing it I would immediately buy a new one as a backup.? It's that good.
Enjoy!
