Re: New Technician from Oklahoma

I want to try a tape measure antenna some day.? If you want something a little more omnidirectional, try a quarter wave ground plane:??.
I have built several.? If you are keeping a short budget for your radio activities, you can use RG-6 coax with an HT.? It's cheaper than RG-8X or RG-8.? It is rated for 75 ohms rather than 50, but I have had no problems with it.? I have not tried it with more than 5w transmit power.? Probably not a good idea since this coax is intended?for hooking up cable TV signals.? If you don't have any sitting around, you should probably spring for some flavor of 50 ohm coax.

Welcome to ham radio!? 73
