Some ‘Prolific’ cables have fake chips in them. To be in the safe side, use Prolific driver 3.2.0.0., found at . Sometimes Windows will want to load the latest version driver, and it won’t work. If it does update, toll back to 3.2.0.0 and it will work again. Always use the same physical USB port every time. Usually once you plug in a cable, windows will try to automatically load the latest driver. Still use 3.2.0.0.?

I purchased a usb cable from someone at a hamfest. Well it worked great. The problem is the CD driver broke into and the CD Rom wont read the disc.
