The Yaesu microphone includes a fun little accessory. It¡¯s a little plastic ring that snaps onto the cord and slips over the squelch knob. The idea is to keep the plug from working loose from the radio. What happened to me is that my squelch knob is a bit looser than before, and then I lost the ring entirely. I¡¯ll use a rubber band around the radio from now on.
Also, it¡¯s a good idea to turn the radio off before plugging or unplugging any microphone so you don¡¯t accidentally key the transmitter.
