My impression - I had a Older one for 8 years - loved it - liked the
ability to
charge AA Nimh packs - thats all I used for that one.?? Final went
out 2 years
ago.? Other than that feature my feeling is that the receive is not
as sensitive
on the newer one. I have a harder time hearing the same repeaters -
even
with an aftermarket antenna.
I did a side by side signal strength test with a friends new Icom HT
- I would get
a repeater at S7 and he had it full scale and louder.?
Might just be my particular unit - hard for me to tell but I wish
the old one didnt
break.

I've loved my wife's now 5 year old FT-60R so much,
I'm thinking about buying one for myself. Hers is made
in Japan.
I've heard the new ones are now made in China and
aren't the same/as good as as the older ones.
Can someone here give me a rundown on the
differences?
