These SMA connectors ARE rated at fewer connects/disconnects than their BNC counterparts. That is why I recommend - IF you will be changing out antennas often - that you use a quality BNC-to-SMA antenna adapter ... and wear IT out instead of wearing out your HT's connector.
But the choice is entirely up to you: Either wear out a quality, $20 connector, or possibly face a $70 repair job to your radio sometime down the line ... (grin)
