Re: got it!

Good Rick,
That is what I monitor when I am in the mobile on the way to or from work. They have a "Insominiac Net every night at 11PM (pacific time). You will hear?net control call?someone's call then they will respond with a letter (abc) . You need to listen at the top of the hour when the questions are read. If you decide you want to join this net then?you should listen?a couple nights first to get the flow of how it goes. Sometimes it can be funny.? There is almost always someone on the winsystem to chat with. You can always call Ron, WB6IAG. He is the resident knowledge that always seems to be on.
Good luck and have fun. Hope to work you some day.

I found a lot of useful information at winsystem.org. The nearest repeater is 10 miles away and I will check them out today.

Thanks!

Rick,
You might have been listening to a repeater connected to the Winsystem. Go to? ?look up the repeater and see if it is on there. The winsystem is a series of repeater (approximately93 or so) connected via internet and rf all around the world. Check it out.
Oh and congrats on getting your call.?

A few nights ago I was outside with my FT-60 and heard a lot of chatter from CA. The frequency matched a repeater on the White Tank. Not sure how that all works but the discussion was great ¨C a technical call in discussion. I will check out the New Ham Net on Thursday!

Congratulations!? I hope to hear you on the air.

I looked up your address on google maps and it looks like South Mountain will block you from the Any reapeaters on White Tanks or Shaw Butte.? You should be able to hit the Usery Pass repeater and anything on South Mountain, though.? You might try to check in to the New Ham Net on Thursday night.? That repeater is on South Mountain.
