You might have been listening to a repeater connected to the Winsystem. Go to???look up the repeater and see if it is on there. The winsystem is a series of repeater (approximately93 or so) connected via internet and rf all around the world. Check it out.

A few nights ago I was outside with my FT-60 and heard a lot of chatter from CA. The frequency matched a repeater on the White Tank. Not sure how that all works but the discussion was great ¨C a technical call in discussion. I will check out the New Ham Net on Thursday!

I looked up your address on google maps and it looks like South Mountain will block you from the Any reapeaters on White Tanks or Shaw Butte.? You should be able to hit the Usery Pass repeater and anything on South Mountain, though.? You might try to check in to the New Ham Net on Thursday night.? That repeater is on South Mountain.
