Gerald,
Listening is all I got right now. It has been only 5 days since I passed the tests and no license yet. I looked at various clubs in and around Phoenix. One in Mesa seems to be the most active. They want my call sign before I get my free 1 year membership.?

Rick,

Listening is good.? It doesn¡¯t take long to understand the flow of the QSOs.? I also remember other HAMS being very patient and welcoming with me as I got started.
?
The other thing I would highly recommend is to join a local HAM group.? Join in the field day or other activities they participate in.? There is a wealth of information available just for the asking and you gain a lot of experience just by having fun doing what HAMS do.

I agree as far as getting the license. But that doesn¡¯t mean I know what I¡¯m doing when I push the transmit key ;-))
?
The best advise I¡¯ve read is to do a lot of listening before I talk.

I just took my Technician test and got 100%. Then I took my General and just squeaked by and passed. They told me to expect my license in 10 days. On Saturday I should be picking up my FT-60.

¡®Tis a good day!
