My bought from new 40 year old FT101Z has suddenly ‘gone deaf’.? It still works but received signal strength is now very low. S meter not showing anything on receive and attenuator apparently not working.? I have followed the guidance in the Maintenance Service Manual and my reasoning leads me to think the problem is in the RF board- either Q101 <3SK53-03) or Q102<J310>.? I have no analytical equipment except digital VOM and am waiting on board extenders so I can extract the RF board to check it out.? Another question is – what would be a modern equivalent for replacing the 3SK53?? Any advice gratefully received.? Alistair (Al)? GM4ENF.
