Try also posting this in the Fox Tango group and the amateur-repairs group. One
of these should get you your answer if this one does not. Our group here is
still small and new.

AM filter workaround

I wonder if any of you Yaesu exerts know of a work around for the usually very expensive AM filter in the FT107m. Drake had a resistor across the filter pins as a cheap workaround.

Thanks,
Marc-k7wxk

FT-107M Question

I have a recently acquired FT-107m that works amazingly well, except the power out on 80m is a bit low. All other bands are 100w or better (10m slightly less). All tested into a 50 ohm dummy load. My questions are:? What is the likely cause of this, and is there an adjustment for this? My experience is limited with SS gear, so I am not as up to snuff on it as I am with vacuum tube gear. I have the service manual.? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Marc-k7wxk

HF Transceiver, PS. DTMF Mic and more FS

Yaesu HF Transceiver, Power Supply, DTMF
Hand Microphone, and more For Sale:

.

Yaesu FT-840 HF Transceiver:

The compact Yaesu FT-840 has two direct
digital synthesizers and rotary encoder that
provide silky-smooth tuning. The excellent
general coverage receiver tunes .1-30 MHz
in 10 Hz steps. The FT-840 uses a die-cast RF
power amp with thermally switched fan to
ensure up to 100 watts output.

Other features include backlit 10 Hz LCD, IF
shift, reverse CW, dual VFOs, 100 memories,
attenuator, noise blanker, meter, scan modes,
automatic antenna tuner, and speech processor.

9.5 x 3.7 x 7 inches.
Requires 13 VDC at 20 Amps.

Features:
0.1-30 MHz Receive
100 Memories
LCD Display
IF Shift
Noise Blanker
Adjustable RF Power
100 Watts Output
Automatic Antenna Tuner
Attenuator

Cosmetically, it is exceptionally good.
It has one scratch that you can see if the
light is just right.

With paper work for $425.

.

Kenwood PS-430 Power Supply:

I know it is not Yaesu, but it works great
with the Yaesu FT-840 above. It is direct
"Plug and Play" with the FT-840.

The Kenwood PS-430 power supply provides
13.8 VDC at 20 Amps intermittent. Ripple
voltage is less than 20 mV at 13.8 VDC and
15 A. Input is 120/220/240 VAC.

This is a linear power supply, so no need to
worry about noise from a switching supply.

The rear panel has a hardwired Kenwood
power cable (6 pin molex connector) to connect
directly to the TS-120/130/140/430/440/450
and others. Actually it will work fine with any
rig that uses the 6 pin molex plug, including
Icom and Yaesu and others.

There are also "plus" and "minus" terminal
outputs (10 Amps max) on the back, useful for
a VHf/UHF rig.

A snap-down tilt bail is on the bottom panel
to increase the operating angle.
6.8 x 3.75 x 9.675 inches 15.4 lbs.

This one works like it should, with great output.

Re: FT-107m Dummy Plug

I finally figured it out after studying the schematic for the power supply and the rig. Looks like pins 1&3 are connected when using the internal ac supply.

FT-818 CW tuning indicator

Hi

vy nice in RIGS FT-857 / 897 the CW Tuning LED (goes to blue if QRG matches) I enjoi this really.

This I am vy missing in FT-818

Now sometimes use the Wolfwave or a DIY Audio Filter - but then you have to parts to handle...

Any forcast for an update from Yaesu ?

For things like this, I like to increase my chances of getting the information I
need by posting in other relevant groups, too. These would seem to be other good
places to join and post:

/g/Amateur-repairs

and maybe check mods.dk to see if a manual is available there that has the
schematic for that. You can only download one document per day for free from
there but sometimes it's the only place to find old manuals.

Re: Files are not active on this site

This is the one I was thinking of:

The others are specific to certain models. I picked up an TF-767GX for $50 and
got it working except for the tuner and memory batteries (one is for the tuner)
and made a contact on SSB to check it's operation. Put less than another $50 in
it.

I created a 767 group and a 757 group, but unless you're interested in those
radios, they are very quiet groups and not for other models. I created the one
of mine you joined when I couldn't find a general Yaesu group just to make sure
there would be a free group for them. I found out later there was a fairly
active group for the FT radios, which I think Yaesu used FT for the prefix for
all of them.

unfortunately the Files are not active on this site as this is a new
sit it does not come with file space from reading the Groups site I
believe that if you up grade the site for 1 month for $20 then
downgrade it the site wil have 1 G of storage allocated to it
I don't want to get involved in all of that, but there are a couple of Yaesu
groups created before the changes for basic groups and I'd just suggest it
be uploaded to one of those groups.

Alternatively, someone can set up a web hosting site and link to the file(s)
there.

Give me a moment and I'll find the ones I belong to. They're not my groups but I
certainly don't mind recommending them. I'll get back to you.
