I have used an FT-950, FTDX-3000, and FTDX-101D running SSTV, AM, and RTTY at full power with no issues. AM ran with a 25-watt carrier. If I am running a contest, I use an amplifier even if low power (100 or 150 watts) to keep the transceiver cool. The FTDX-101D has a setting to show transmitter temperature. Even running high duty cycles at 100 watts, the internal fan keeps it below 45C. I had an Icom IC-7610 for a while (not any more), and it worked OK for high duty cycle modes. FT-8 is a 43% duty cycle.?
