How do you set up for more then 4 Wifi throttles on the YD7001

I just did an exhibition show with YD7001 it was very successful it was a small Layout so we only need it 4 WiFi throttles. My question is how do I get more throttles working with the YD 7001 let's say like 10 to 16 WiFi throttles.

You will need to use an external router that has DHCP capability, such as your home internet router. They are not expensive at around ?20 upwards

Iain is correct, you will need and external router.? Not all routers are created equal - the less expensive ones typically do not support a large number of wireless connections.? So if purchasing make sure that the router can handle what you need.? If you run out of capacity on the router, what typically happens is that the older connections are disconnected, but again the behaviour depends on the make of the router.

In testing I completed at the York Railway Modellers club in Toronto we managed to get to 10 stable and actively used throttles over the WiThrottle protocol.? We actually got to 12 connected throttles but 2 we not being actively used.? We tried to connect more throttles and the router became unstable and restarted itself.? I have a more capable router (it is designed for a medium size office and will handle at least 36 wireless connections and is worth $400 Canadian) but I have been unable to do load testing with active throttles as we are getting ready for our fall open house.

There are some things you will need to do to get a larger numbers of wireless throttles working with the YD7001:
  • Disable (turn off) the YD7001 internal wireless adapter - this saves processing power on the YD9401 to allow larger numbers of throttles to be supported over the LAN connection.
  • Do not connect the Windows PC on which you are running the YD7001 software via a LAN connection - this puts extra load on the YD7001 LAN port.? Instead connect the Windows PC via USB.
You can look at this topic on the forum - it may have some other tips that I have forgotten.

I have a TP-Link Archer A7 router witch looks like it should do just fine for this. It will be a little nerve racking when I set this up at the Amherst show in Springfield this January

Perfect?

Many Thanks
