Re: Throttle for YD7010

If you exhibit your model railway, be very wary of wireless handsets. At large exhibitions where lots of people are wandering about with phones trying to find networks to attach to, and other exhibitors using wireless throttles then you can find your throttle disconnecting – and always at the most awkward time.

?

Wired throttle do not suffer in the same way as wireless throttles ?

DCC should have?wireless throttles. The only reason?wired throttles exist is because the technology for wireless throttles wasn't there in 1993 when DCC was first on the market.

For general purpose throttles, I really like the TCS UWTs. Throttle apps are OK if you're on a tight budget or need an extra. For the money, I'd go with UWTs over Digitrax throttles. For a low-cost physical throttle, the YD7010 supports Z21. The ESU MCII will work with Engine Driver, but I'm personally not a fan of it.

If you like realistic diesel operations, nothing can beat ProtoThrottle, but it's a niche, and even as a huge fan and owner of a ProtoThrottle, I only use it when operating, and only with a portion of my fleet that has decoders that can be configured for it.

What would be a recommended wireless / IR throttle for YD7010? Any reason to go with wired over wireless throttle?
