Re: K9 seminars this year

Trish,
Maybe we can pick and choose the emergency things we would want demo'd to us, like snakebite dressing, how to do the needle decompressions for bloat and pneumo, fluid IV for dehydration, etc...
Perhaps less expense for us...........
Let's talk about what they teach, ok?

I have a DVM and RVT who do ER at Loomis Basin who will come out and do SAR specific emergency training. They most recently worked with military EOD dogs at Beale.?

It will NOT match what Jo-Anne Brenner and her company K9 Medic offer, nor will it match what Spike's School offers (another thing we could look into). Both of those will offer very realistic scenarios that will put you to the test that will give you the confidence in the truly emergent setting where that knowledge may be the difference between life and death.?

Is there a local Emergency Vet who could come out and teach us?

Here's more detailed info Anne. Yes pricing is a llittle steep, but perhaps we don't ask for it to be provided. Good class for sure.

One thing I did see that I was disappointed in (and I'm not going to comment on the rest of the team) was dog team members showing up to what was essentially a Mock Search and not having the map downloaded into their phone or whatever they were going to use to navigate at the search.??
Our Search Managers sent out links to the maps as well as descriptions/direction as to what our roles were at this Mock Search days before the actual event.? If you don't know how to access this information that is okay!? Ask someone - this is a learning event!? Not a real search.? Don't wait until the last minute to find out there is no service or people don't have time to help you.? We are a TEAM - we are there to help you.?
We all pull together and we leave no one behind.
