I
certainly can. She was my main memory of 1969.? I was a guest at her
wedding in Bourke around 1974 and we continue to exchange Christmas cards some
50 years later. Her name is Elizabeth

To help your poor memory, Angus.... the 5th Form prefects were Ken
Armstrong, Bill Sheridan, Phillip Young and Bruce Adams.... all in the photo
on page 38 of 1968 Yanconian.
?
Can you remember the first name of Ray Dart’s daughter?
?
And you forgot to mention the purple fluorescent lights for the dances.
Now that Mad Magazine has died, those posters could be worth money.

I'm with you John.?
I can't even remember what house I was in in 1968 let alone who was the dorm
prefect.? I do remember that I was on the social committee with Al
Wetton and Kel Furner (?) and Grahame Morris and others.?? Alan
painted fabulous posters of Alfred E Neuman from the Mad magazine and Union
Jacks? ( very sixties ) And we listened to records endlessly whilst
decorating the hall, and in particular "Apache"? And I broke my collar
bone playing football when Cleve Flotman late tackled me.? Oh, can
Caroline Giltinan .? That about concludes my memory of
1968
Where some of us dorm
prefects in Breakwell??? Or was that only after the 6 formers left
after they finished HSC??? I have a faint memory of Ray Dart almost
busting Grahame and me for smoking whilst in a dagging hole in
Breakwell.

Hello Alan
Doyle; I had heard about your gammy leg but did not know you were now a
wheelchairer. good on you for being so positive and continuing driving and
being social etc.
Just to fill
you (and anybody else who is interested). Dorm 7, starting from the left
side looking in... K Furner, S. Aughey, A. Doyle, K. Broomfied, D. Evans.
From the right side of the door... G. Brain, J. Eyles, R. Elwin, B.
McCormack, C. Semmler. Howard Briggs was prefect... you must remember the
deep philosophical discussions about his never-ending supply of chicks and
birds.
And yes
JE.... I would bet that it was Alan Ruby who was prefect of Dorm 8 and in
the corner dagging hole. Chris Davis, you might confirm this?? Some time ago
I had Alan Ruby in my mind but for some reason I dismissed him.

???????????????????
Yep, I am still in Deni, And doing fine really. A bit limited, but still
drive and can get around town with a wheelchair hoist on the roof
?????????????????????????????????????
I am lucky to have a good group of friends and we all catch up regularly,
plus a son and 2 daughters who are really
supportive.
??????????????????????????????????????????
Now, Dorm 7 - if you were across the room, then maybe Greg Brain was near
you (??? ), with Barry McCormack a little further down on your side. Also, I
dont think there was more than 9 of us in the one dorm
???
??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Cheers.

Hi
Alan,
?
Firstly, sorry
to hear about the leg – that’s not good but hope you are otherwise OK. Are
you still in Deniliquin?
?
Dorm 7 was
closest to the Dining Room – and Alan Rub? I never thought of him – be
interesting to see other reactions to that. Interesting about your thoughts
of Gardiner 5 &6…let’s see what others have to add – I for one certainly
cannot remember…and I think I was in Dorm 7 as well – 2nd on
right (I think). And OK on Alan Ruby…interesting – I know Howard was there
somewhere

To answer your Question regarding 1968 - ( I thought That'll be easy - Ha )
, I was in dorm 8 - or was it 7 ??? - the one closest to the dining room
anyway !!!?? and slept near Kel and Dino ( so they can confirm ) .
I suspect Alan Ruby may have been our prefect - but am open to
corrections.
????????????????????????????????
Weren't there other 5th formers in dorms? 5 & 6 of Gardiner House
???
??????????????????????????????
I ran into a bit of trouble (not literally ) in 2016 and had my leg
shortened again and ( to cut a long story short ) (-sorry about the pun )
ended up in a wheelchair. So although I wont be able to make reunions, Its
still good to hear how everyone is getting
along.

Thanks Leonie – that’s great news –
make sure to tell him to keep the exercise up no matter what J and can you ask him whether he was
there in 5th form and then if so – what dorm he was in and who
the prefect was if he can remember.

Hi all

sore now.

Glad to hear you are improving
Chris.

Hi All - again, hope this finds you
well and that Chris Davis and Dave Stott are all improving. They're the only
ones I am aware of that have been on the sick list recently.
I have
sent out an email to see if our Riverina locals wanted to get together?
somewhere around the 7th July and probably in Ariah Park. When I have a date
and confirmation of venue I will put out another email in case any of you
outside the area want to come across. These get togethers are always a good
fun day out.
Secondly, a bit of a heads up and a question for you
all. As you may be aware, I have been on Col Semmler's back since 2014 to
get him to write up some memoirs as his memory seems to be somewhat better
than many - LOL. The Covid shutdown gave him the impetus and he has been
very diligent...some might say that Messrs Bladwell and Thompson would have
been proud of him :0). Suffice to say that sometime between now and our next
reunion in 2022 we should have something for you to read. I anticipate the
end product will be a collective effort and if you are interested in
contributing your memories let me know as they too can be added in. So start
winding back your memories 50 something years back and jot down some of your
memorable moments. Things that come to mind are your 1st year experiences,
the streaking craze, out bush adventures, seances, dances, gala days, dorm
raids, dining room raids, Muck up day etc. List could be endless. I have
quite a few photos as well. I do not envisage a published tome but more
something to be printed and bound and left for you to reminisce and perhaps
left with your descendants to read.
And finally, some questions - in
1968 who was the Mutch Dorm 8 prefect? We are pretty sure Howard Briggs was
Dorm 7 and Mad Dog Davidson may have also had one of the three dagging holes
out the back. And speaking of those two dorms - where was everyone else as
those two dorms would have housed a max of 20-24 and according to the 1968
class photo there were 42 of us so if you include Ken, Bill Sheridan, Phil
Young and Bruce Adams who were Prefects that year that still leaves at least
another dorm's worth somewhere. So, if you can remember, can you let me know
what Dorm you were in that year and the prefect.
John
