Twigstat

I’m curious to hear if anyone has learned if anyone, any company, is beginning to use?Twigstat?to build out, aka enhance, family trees for the public. ?Twigstat was recently written about in an article in Nature (#637) January 1. Twigstat is an open source method written in C++ and R.

Twigstat has intrigued me because I am one of the old guys that used to work with Ken Nordtvedt, snp by snp, trying to figure out if I had some Viking in me. The article in Nature says that Twigstat was used to trace the movements of Northern Europeans from AD 1 to AD 1000, My paper trail only goes back to Scotland circa 1680. ?If only there was a way to skip back 1500 years.

Genetic genealogy speaking, the future of family trees may be just around the corner. Hopefully I might be around to see it.
