For Am241 exciter xrf,the previous Rap47 within a collimator with exciters in-front setup is not going to work
How is it done now?
Anyway impressive results

Re: GEO-1-2-3 All-in-one low energy Si-PIN Spectrometer.
12 hours or so into the long term aging test. No noticeable change in calibration at 5.9 keV, temperature stable etc. Heatsink warm to the touch like a puppy.
15 seconds and the peak search function

Charles what are you running Si-PIN HV and gain?

Geo
Good on universal plug power settings
One usually overlook the amperage rating.
A right voltage with wrong amperage can be a disaster.

More, better pics.
Actual footprint is 3.5" X 4.5".

Re: GEO-1-2-3 All-in-one low energy Si-PIN Spectrometer.
Yes it is a universal one. It is important to use this one power supply, it can provide 2 amps, and that capacity is needed during initial turn-on phase of the cooler.

Looking good
Like the X-123 Amptek
Much cheaper ?with Geo trademark
Will be anxiously waiting for more display pics

Re: [GammaSpectroscopy] Terracotta Floor Tile
Charles,
Attached are some shots of a piece of Indian pottery I had here and a clay pot showing the full energy range and then the zoomed lower end detail.
I see pretty much the same elements

Looks good Taray. I was surprised when I measured a "stoney" meteorite and still found so much iron + nickel!Geo

Xrf meteorite
Hi guys
Here I have a meteorite specimen I bought from eBay more than 5 years ago .It was sold as a Zag meteorite which hit Moroccan Sahara in 1998.
Apparently there many episodes of meteorite falls

Re: [GammaSpectroscopy] Terracotta Floor Tile
The log base is just one of the many options that Theremino offers. I had
not paid much attention to it until you brought it up. The log scale for
energy is nice for me because I tend to be more

Charles,
Interesting Am Au interference, I didn¡¯t know they had gold in there.

Re: [GammaSpectroscopy] Terracotta Floor Tile
Charles,
Looks good. Note that the Au ¡°peak¡± is really just noise(4 counts). Its good to have the Am and Np tags turned on to save time when doing energy ID¡¯s.
You don¡¯t need to scale up

Re: Parallel growth of columbite-(Fe) and samarskite-(Y)
I've seen some of your microprobe reports, and they are amazing. If I was still a kid I would be on my way to U of NM right now......but alas, I'll have to be satisfied with the reactor operators

Re: Parallel growth of columbite-(Fe) and samarskite-(Y)
Yes, that's true, but I'm having fun in the same way, running down Trinitite peaks as reported from some of the best gamma spectroscopists in the world. I don't expect to add anything to their work,

Re: Parallel growth of columbite-(Fe) and samarskite-(Y)
These types of associations are fairly common; attached are a couple of pictures of columbite associated with monazite - a Nb-Ta oxide intergrown with a REE-Th-phosphate. Pretty easy to tell these
