Re: MOUNTAIN PASS REE ORE

Neat.? I had nighttime pictures from the Mt. Pass mine (we camped just below the mine at the time) looking both east and west from the mine.? I-15 was well defined by the head and tail lights of the travelers.? At present N. Idaho has the most ore that contains the HREE end of the elements.? There is also a known deposit well below ground level (read $$$) in the Ozark region.? But, so far, China hasn't held us up 'too' badly ('modern' magnets that require HREE's have replaced hydraulics in most of our fighter aircraft and Tesla's electric vehicles......).? We have a number of deposits in Colorado, but most are pretty small to make it economical to recover (specifically, the largest being Little Patsy Pegmatite).? Going north, the deposits in Wyoming share being too small. ? I've also collected at Petaca, New Mexico, but, again, the deposits are too small for big corporate America to move in and plunder the land and forest.? We loved camping at the mines at Petaca - remote and rather beautiful scenery. ?

Dave, I can run that for you. I also have some Mt Pass White Earth Concentrate. I had some REE claims just across the border in Nv and I could look over at Mt Pass mine from there. It would be interesting to see the differences.

Subject: [XRF] MOUNTAIN PASS REE ORE

?

Has anyone run a high-res XRF analysis of the ore material from the Mountain Pass mine (along I-15 in California on the way to Lost Wages and about 15 miles inside California)?? It used to be the free world's source of REE elements, but the greenies got to it.? I believe it has reopened, but I do not believe it is enriched with the HREE elements which presently are from China and in demand for 'designer' magnets.?

?

I don't have the equipment, but would ike an XRF analysis run on the material of which I can supply a small specimen.? I collected there some 51 years ago when it was a very active mine supplying the world with REE phosphores for color picture tubes (yes, the "old" modulated milk bottles with a hard vacuum inside).

?

If anyone is up to the analysis, send me the address to mail the specimen which I do not need back.?? ?? ? ? ? ? ??
