nitinol in guide wires
Peter
Here is the edited? medical guidewire xrf
It is used prior to railroading a soft catheter over it and the wire subsequently removed
On paper it is made of nitinol (Nickel titanium alloy)
Super elastic? making it kink free
Xrf show mainly chromiun and iron.
The supplier explained the inner nitinol core is surrounded my medical grade steel
Not everything is marketed as what it seems.
Imagine a unwary university professor demonstrating the functional properties to students calling it nitinol in the pure sense.
On the other hand I notice one can convert thin stiff commercial aluminium sheets into soft malleable?? metals for xrf purposes such as for sample mounts or collimator
Simply by heating a palm size sheet for? a minute with a flame torch
The factory aluminium sheets will lose the shine, shrink slightly? and soften from my experience.
It is like a factory reset

This simple annealing??procedure is??useful??for those??unfamiliar? The Al thin sheet??cools within??a minute amaintaining the softness . On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, 10:54 PM, taray singh via groups.io <sukhjez@...> wrote:
