Re: syenite
Assuming the fluorescence is due to sodalite, which is a aluminum silicate, I¡¯m not sure if HCl will leach anything out, but it¡¯s certainly worth a try. I¡¯ve had good luck using HCl on the REE

Re: syenite
Taray, I looked for Ga but it¡¯s too weak to say. Perhaps with a longer count time and running the HV down to 20 kV may help bring out the lower energy elements The optical data are overwhelmed by

Re: syenite
Well syenite is found in China based on this article? This Fangcheng type florescent rocks are sold of as yooperlites or healing stones. Well the composition of mine is similar to this??chinese

Re: syenite
Taray, Try an optical spectrum and see what that gets. It looks like there¡¯s Pb, possibly some As, Nb and Y in there as well. Dud Sent: Saturday, October 19, 2024 7:19 AM To:

With all the Zr I would suspect Zircon. Without the locality it is anyone's guess. Charles charlesdavidyoung@...> wrote:

Pure metals for calibrations and experiments
I was looking at buying some silver yesterday from JM Bullion and noticed they have 1oz bars of other metals. I ordered ytterbium, yellow niobium, iron, and molybdenum and a 1-lb copper bar, along

Re: Rhenium,scandium,dysprosium and samarium
I wouldn¡¯t think so as it would have to be in a crystal form for the energy transfer. I base this on trying to look at the reflectance of Nd in rocks and minerals which show the absorption features

Dude?Rare earths are interesting with?their electron shell configurationsAny way of displaying these??optical luminous properties in the pure form ?

Re: Rhenium,scandium,dysprosium and samarium
Taray, For the case of samarium the optical transmission spectrum shows good transmission from 500 to NIR. While the UV has multiple sharp absorbance bands due to the 4f electron shell configuration.
