Holmium Chloride Color Changes (After a Few Days)
1. Colors Observed
???- Daylight :Faint yellow.??
???- Fluorescent Light :Pale pink (normal room) → Bright pink (dark room).??
2. Fluorescent bulbs emit??blue/violet light that activates holmium ions (Ho3+)triggering a pink glow.??
???- Daylight lacks these wavelengths → solution stays yellow.??
???- Laser (blue/green)or 365 nm UV light→ no pink glow.?
3. Aging Effect
???Colors may intensify as the solution stabilizes.??
The fluorescent bulb’s spectrum doesn’t perfectly align with Ho??’s absorption peaks,?dark room adaptation make the pink more?visible in an acqueous solution.
