BRS in X'air F
3
Dear all, I’m toying with fitting a Ballistic Parachute ( BRS ) in my UK registered X’air Falcon 912 ( X’air F to most of the world ) How is this fitted? Externally or internally. Does the skin need to be modified or will it shoot through the existing velcro openings? Is it compatible with the long range tank I have fitted in the centre wing space above the fuse tube? Does it need any fire proofing of fuel tanks. I’m a bit nervous about detonating a rocket a few inches from a fibre glass petrol tank ! If anyone has any photos of how its mountings I would be very grateful if you could email me a copy or post here. I’ve googled and cannot find anything. Annoyingly the BMAA will not grant me the usual extra 23kg as they say the aircraft is only tested to 450 kg, so I may need to remove it for its final weighing in a couple of years. Also, just curious, what is the design weight limit of the X’air 912? In the UK we are limited to 450 kg but I know in Germany it is allowed 472.5KG and would I be right in thinking it is allowed to be heavier in some other countries ( Canada ? Australia? ) Regards, Jon Webb

X-Air Ultralight Aircraft BRS in X'air F
Looking back a few years when I owned one of the three UK Falcon 912’s, the weight and balance sheet indicates a measured empty weight of 264.5kg and a max zero fuel weight of 266.5. If you are not permitted the 10% increase it doesn’t leave much for the BRS! Given the choice with an engine failure I would still choose to glide into a field rather than pop the BRS.. Regards, ted

Changing X Air Hanuman Fabric
To group: i would appreciate hearing what others experiences have been in changing fabric for the X Air H. Specifically, what distributor did you use, and how did that turn out in terms of cost, delivery, fit, etc. Does Rand Kar out of France still supply sails, and if so is the delivery time and fit reasonable? The closest sail supplier to me (I am in Ontario Canada) is Ultralight Sales Canada based in Quebec. With them I have heard some owners quite pleased and others not so much…. I have the X Air H fabric removal and information manuals - but I was also wondering if owners could identify any particular tips/tricks to successful removal and installation that may not be in the manuals….particularly with the wings…. Your help/insight much appreciated in advance! Geoff Gartshore X Air Hanuman IHNC Waterloo Ontario Canada

Drilled Nuts and Bolts
2
Hey Group, Can anyone suggest a source for replacement nuts and bolts. Since I'm in the US all the aircraft grade hardware is SAE and as you are aware the X-Air uses metric. I can get quality metric nuts and bolts in common sizes, but have not been able to find drilled bolts and pins. Thanks for the help Trent

X-Air Ultralight Aircraft New Owner Introduction

Where are you in Texas.

Xair
I owned an XAIR Hanuman for a number of years, but probably would not buy another one. There were problems with spare parts availability and some doubt about the future of the company. There was an ongoing problem with the ribs that hold the profile of the wings in that the ribs would twist and break off the weak plastic ends. Regularly replacing these ends was a difficult and annoying task. I also had problems with the landing gear where the wheels ended up splayed out, requiring the entire axle assembly to be replaced. It was a fun and easy aircraft to fly, and the cabin space was good, but there are better options on the market.

New Owner Introduction
Hi, I recently purchased an X-Air LSA and hauled it from Florida to Texas. It needs some TLC and fabric. I plan on using http://ultralightsails.com/ but not sure about the paying the extra money for the OPAC vs Mylar. I also need to order a few items from the factory. In general how quick are they in delivering once order? What source are y'all using for the hardware. The bolts are not the usual AN stuff I'm use to. Thanks Trent Flemming

Greetings from Western Australia
* Apologies am reposting as accidentally deleted post. Hi all. I currently fly a Powered Parachute. Me and a couple of my PPC flying mates are currently converting over to 3 axis. Have fallen in love with the X-Air but really want to at least see one in flesh or better have a fly in one. Cant seem to make contact with any one over here that has one of these a/c. Would love to hear from anyone if you have a mate or know anyone I could contact over here. Also would like to see a pic of a BRS install and any comments regarding putting them on these type a/c Regards Nick
