BRS in X'air F

Dear all,
?
?
I’m toying with fitting a Ballistic Parachute ( BRS ) in my UK registered? X’air Falcon 912? ( X’air F to most of the world )
?
How is this fitted? Externally or internally. Does the skin need to be modified or will it shoot through the existing velcro openings?
?
?
Is it? compatible with the long range tank I have fitted in the centre wing space above the fuse tube?
?
Does it need any fire proofing of fuel tanks. I’m a bit nervous about detonating a rocket a few inches from a fibre glass petrol tank !
?
?
If anyone has any photos of how its mountings I would be very grateful if you could email me a copy ?or post here.??I’ve googled and cannot find anything.
?
?
Annoyingly the BMAA will not grant me the usual extra 23kg as they say the aircraft is only tested to 450 kg, so I may need to remove it for its final weighing in a couple of years.
?
?
Also, just curious, what is the design weight limit of the X’air 912?? In the UK we are limited to 450 kg but I know in Germany it is allowed 472.5KG and would I be right in thinking it is allowed to be heavier in some other countries ( Canada ? Australia? )
?
?
?
Regards,
?

Hi Jon,

In Australia my X-Air MTOW is 490kg my aircraft empty weight is 260kg

I actually purchased a 912 I wanted to install in it rather than the 582... not sure yet as it seems hard to get a 912 engine mount grrr

with a chute added I know the weight here can be more,?

the ones I seen have a mount to clamp the external bullet looking chute to the main boom then has the straps bolted to the frame... I'm sure a google search will find some extra info but if not look at the assembly manual as it shows the BRS mounting :)?

I would be very keen to see some close up pictures of your 912 mounting

a mate of mine just purchased a X-Air with a jabiru 2200 and a BRS fitted.. I will get a pic or two and show you his one, I dont think you will need to bother covering the fuel tanks as the rocket is above and outside the aircraft frame..

cheers Pete?

Here ya go if you can see them clear enough?

cheers Pete
