Anything from Aircraft Spruce will be fine. It is the cheap hardware
stores where there is a problem.

My apologies - the bungee cords I ised are not
from the dollar store. I purchased them from aircraft spruce
aviation store but they are not "certified". They sell both but
come from the same supplier. The cost is 80cents per foot versus
5$+ per foot. I have landed 40+ times so far and I've had zero
issues.?
I would not advise purchasing hardware store bungee cords. Not a
good idea.
I would strongly recommend getting the original cord from the
manufacturer. So many have tried with hardware store bungee but
it is just not suitable. You cannot fit shock absorbers on the
Hanuman model that I am aware of because the shock absorber does
not work in compression it works in extension and that is why
they use bungee cord. If there was some sort of reverse shock
absorber available then I am sure you could get to work but it
is under extension not compression.
We have replaced a lot of parts for people who have used
hardware store bungee which has failed on the first landing on
some occasions even in the hanger when the aircraft is just
sitting there. One example was it failed and the wing drop down
on the workbench putting a hole in the wing fabric courtesy of a
vice attached to the bench....? Just by the correct stuff that
we know works and get on with flying.
I'm considering changing the bungees on my undercarriage,
they seem a bit tired. I have seen some people replace them
with gas shocks, which I would love to do, but don't know
the details of what would be done. I haven't found any kits,
and I'm not super familiar with the specs of shocks. I was
told one fellow used the kind on dirt bikes, but nothing
more specific than that.
Has anyone swapped to shocks, and if so, what were the
parts and how did you do it?
Has anyone replaced the bungee cord? If so what kind of
cord did you use and are there any tricks to it? (I know to
wrap it with the weight off, but that's about it)
?
Thanks!
Tom
