Re: I need your help
Hi Jim
thank you for your interest into my problem. I appreciate. My PC is Windows 10. I tried also on an old Windows 8 with same result. The cable I bought? from Xiegu. Eu? (Pile up in Sweden) is? this one ? and it is a FTDI cable . It's recognized? by? Windows 10 and driver correctly installed. I also downloaded drivers from FTDI? ?and installed without any success. Therefore it's not Prolific type of cable. Regarding the elektre board you mention , may I ask you more about the connection ?? I suppose I need to connect a cable with audio jack somehow and on the other side to connect a usb cable to usb connector on the board and? USB plug to PC. Am I right ? power is given by USB port ? Sorry for so many questions but with your help I do hope to resurrect my X5105. Many thanks ! bruno |
Re: I need your help
What version of Windows do you have?
In the past I used the Xiegu cable with Windows 8 and 10 - no problems. Windows 11 didn't like the Xiegu serial to USB cable. It looked installed but wouldn't work. I assume it is a Prolific driver clash. Tried a few from here but no luck So, I used this, and that worked Jim?? G4EQX |
Re: I need your help
Hi Jim
unfortunately didn't? work? also with 4.96 version. Again it remains? in "? waiting? connection"? ?status? and? it? doesn't? receive anything. The cable? is the original bought from Xiegu Sweden (and paid a fortune) . Drivers? looks? ok . Com port? ?on the device manager looks? also ok. I'm sorry to bother you or anybody? else? if? you have? some? suggestion. It? should be a pity? to put into the bin the Xiegu . Thank you in advance to all . |
Re: I need your help
Hi Bruno
The last time I flashed the firmware I had similar problems. I solved them by using an earlier version of Teraterm (might have been 96 but need to check my notes). Xiegu doesn't like the latest version for some reason. I also used a high quality USB/Serial bridge for the data connection. Used the Elektor BoB board which has low noise on the data lines compared to some of the other junk out there. Hope this helps. Jim ? G4EQX |
Re: I need your help
By pressing the volume buttons I was able to put again? 5105 in? waiting? connection mode.? I tried another version of Teraterm without? success. The COM port seems? to work correctly. Driver? FTDI? ?seem correctly installed. I tried with another PC but? same? story. Hope someone can suggest me what to try. many thanks in advance

I need your help
Hello all,
I tried to upgrade firmware using original xiegu cable and? following strictly the procedure? described by Radioddity. COM port was? correctly set on the PC .Also on Tera term everything was fine. Memory was? flash but no way? to send any data from PC to Xiegu 5105. It remained in awaiting? mode? for? hours. I disconnected the power cable and now the Xiegu is? switched? off? completely , no way? to power up again.? I 've read other topic in this forum but? didn't find a solution . is there anybody? that can kindly suggest a solution ?? many thanks ! bruno |
Re: X5105 battery and external supply question.
开云体育Hi Tony, ? I was able to do the test you specify below. When I remove external power from the source (with X5105 powered on) without removing the power plug from the jack; the radio always powers down, regardless of the Menu Charge (ON/OFF) setting. ? However, when the Menu Charge function is ON, I confirm the radio continues to charge the internal battery while powered on and operating or OFF. So, the radio powering down with external power removed is not a limitation for my use, but just confirms there is no internal circuitry to correctly switch from External to Internal power when external power is removed. ? Re: X5105 Battery?
开云体育So a NiMh battery isn't a good substitute, the X5105 must use a LiPo (or is it a LiFePo) battery??

Re: X5105 battery and external supply question.
there's a firmware setting for something to do with charging while operating.? You enable or disable it, but I'm not quite sure just exactly what it meant.? Maybe you found it.
I've often used mine while plugged in, but never happened to unplug while the radio was on.? (It's packed away for a trip right now, not easy to make a quick check.) -------- Doug, K8RFT |
X5105 battery and external supply question.
Guy's does anyone have a X5105 to hand that could do a quick test for me please.
With the internal battery charged up and an external power supply also connected, power up the radio. It should power up fine, but then leaving the power supply jack attached, switch the power supply off, does the radio continue to operate from the internal battery with the power jack plugged in and no external power? I am sure that before I blew up my X5105 last year (see that thread about the repair) mine did not continue to run without external power present on the jack plug, but when I tried it over the weekend it now does. I thought there was a set of switch contacts inside the external power jack socket that disconnected the battery pack when a jack is inserted, perhaps I dreamt that was the case. I am wondering if there still is an issue with mine I didn't fix last year. Tony |
