Re: speaker on while charging

I hear a white noise sound also when I am charging my radio.

Noted that while charging the speaker is on!. It sounds like the rig is receiving. No station just a background noise.
Is this normal??

X5105 - V3 Build 8 - WIP ?

Is there a definitive list of X5105 V3.00 Build 8 firmware known issues and feature omissions ?

Much hype about the 6100 I fear is distracting Xiegu from finishing the radio I bought preventing users from getting the most out of their original investment.?

Reinstatement of the CTCSS capability for repeater access (also not available within 6100 ??) would be one for the list along with single button Message launch for differing messages (like the original RE1,RE2 & RE3 feature).?

Re: X5105 stopped transmitting

Dear Tony, I have the same problem with my X5105. We're you able to fix your radio?

Re: x6100

I'll be keeping my X5105 after my X6100 arrives. I'll sell my G90 and my GSOC unless I can figure our a reliable HF mobile setup.

QRP FT8 Operation results

Last May, I spent a month in Englewood, Florida 34224, grid EN63va77nq, running my X5105 at 2 watts output to a Butternut HF6V.? The antenna has had 17 meters added, and has a poor ground radial setup.? But it's only about 4 miles east of salt water, so it seems to be a good location.
I ran FT8 a lot of nights, when I couldn't sleep, and also some daytimes. I managed to work quite a few countries and a lot of states, even Hawaii.
This was using a "homebrew" digital audio adapter, comprised of a small USB hub, with a cheap, small USB sound card and USB-to-serial board, all held inside an old candy tin box (4 x 5 x 2 inches).? The serial board does the RX/TX data and the RTS line controls the PTT.?? Another group user had the same problem I had, with making the 8-pin DIN plug fit into the radio socket, but mine was pretty easy to trim off the interfering plastic.
I logged 221 QSOs during that month in Englewood, and I plan to do more from there this winter.? I will have my X5105, and an IC706MkII (which I run at about 12 watts).
If anyone cares to see the log results, the log will be in the group's FILES section as X5105_Logbook1.pdf

Looking for a 2nd hand X5105

Wolf, OE7FTJ

Hi All!

As I can read, more and more users will upgrade from X5105 to the X6100 when it will be available. As I own a IC-705 for shack operation I'm looking for a X5105 for field ops.

If any of the group members (in EU only) will sell his X5105 please send me a note.

73 and have a safe and nice xmas time

Re: IF Output and power

It was my understanding that the "I.F. Output" was for the little MCX connector on the left end of the radio case, for connecting to a panadapter.?
I looked through my V.3 X5105 instruction manual, and couldn't find an entry for "I.F. Output" to switch or set.? Are you using V.3 firmware?

Not any mentioned in this group - a web search should turn up something.

I did get a
from NooElec, on Amazon.? Ordered on November 24, 2020.
?

It works, but I never got its usage figured out, for making sense of the X5105's I.F. passband display.? With some development work, it might be able to show you what frequency you're on, but I couldn't.? It did seem like the I.F. passband display shown by the Nano had the spectrum 'reversed', with the higher listening frequency at the left end of the spectrum display.? I think that there must not have been enough signals on the air, at the time I was trying it, to see any useful indication of active stations along with the background noise.? I could see some signals, and see them move when I tuned the radio, but I could not tell which visible signal was the one I was hearing.? I don't know the I.F. passband width, either, to see how wide the spectrum display bandwidth would be, and how much of a ham radio band would be on the pan display.

Since then, I got an RSP1a, but I haven't tried that with the X5105.? It shouldn't make any difference, though - what I (or someone) should try is to use a cheap SDR dongle with the nice programs meant for use with the RSP1a type SDRs - they're based on the same basic TV receiver chip.? Hopefully I'll have a chance (that means "get around to") trying the software like HDSDR and SDRSharp to see the X5105 I.F. output.

For anyone else trying the SDR panadapter, don't forget to order an SMA-to-MCX connector adapter to fit the radio's I.F. output jack.

Glad i found this site I was considering picking one of these up but maybe i am ?just better off using my SDR dongle. Has there been any improvements ?

I checked my unit and IF Output is Off. Power cycling the radio does not enable it.

I took a photo with the firmware version I am using here.

Gio, how would a 5100-buyback campaign help Xiegu stay in business? Sounds like a fast track to bankruptcy if you ask me.

Setting up the ALC level on X5105+XPA 125B

Hello everybody! I¡±m using a X5105 + XPA 125 B solid state amplifier, and I work exclusively in digital modes. Since I had the X5105 and the CE 19 expansion port without the amplifier, with the correct settings of the transceiver and PC, I managed to make a lot of QSO¡±s all over Europe and not only, even Oman (4450 km), Iceland ( 4000km ) and so on. Since I inserted the XPA125B in the chain things have changed. It seems that almost nobody can copy me. I have to mention that everything is working OK, the SWR is OK, no protection on XPA is acting, but I noticed that the ALC level for input is max. 1W Seems that modulation passes through the amplifier, and the output power varies between 80 and 90 W, but I didn¡±t get any response from nobody. Can anybody tell me how the ALC level can be adjusted? Thanks!

Re: Winlink using xggcoms cable

Wanted to reply to the thread here with the solution.
After weeks of communication, photo swapping, and measurements with Steve, from xggcomms, we tested and finally came up with a solid plan. He made a modified plug for me (I'm not mechanically inclined). It fits nicely into the socket. Steve ended up removing the top of the mid-collar, down to where the metal sleeve locks into that collar, and gluing those pieces together to keep them secure. I tried that first myself but never glued it, so it came apart and dislocated two of the pins.
As it's mentioned here and in another thread, the radio itself has a design flaw with that female socket. Whether the socket is recessed too far or the opening for the socket itself is too narrow for the mid-collar to slip in to is up for debate. I think the cable assembly on the aftermarket unit is designed as it should be under normal conditions; unfortunately the DIN plug on that unit really brings out the design flaw of the radio. A design flaw perpetuated by a design flaw is how would describe it.

Big shout-out to Steve though. He responded very quickly to my initial support message and tirelessly went through all the back and forth questions and answers to each other.
If you haven't ordered one yet for this radio, but plan to, it might be worthwhile to reach out ahead of time and ask if he's able to do the x5105 mod on that plug.

If you're watching Steve, thanks again!
