Re: CW Messages.
I just scanned through most of the comments here on this thread so excuse me if this came up but I was able to transmit the message by quick pushing MSG button on the bottom right, then make sure your 1 of 10 messages is listed and not blank. It will display your pre message on the bottom right. Then just push the PTT on the back side of the radio and message will play. After it transmits your message, radio returns to receive and you can PTT to replay the message again. I have not tried this with the hand mic PTT.?

I don't know who is writing the firmware for the X5105 but I had a G90 and it took them forever to correct some crazy issues with the CW filters.
They eventually got it squared away. Seems to me that more effort is put into digital mode issues. This particular issue is that that big a deal to me but it took me awhile to find out what was happening. I wish this list had more participation. Larry n0sa |
Won't retain some CW Bandwidth settings
Larry Naumann
I have a brand new X5105 with version 3.0 firmware.
There is a strange anomaly with the memory and bandwidth settings. When I set the tone to 700 Hz and Lower cut off to 600 and upper cutoff to 800 the radio will not recall these settings after a power cycle. If I set Lower cutoff to 575 and Upper cutoff to 825, the radio will remember the settings. Kind of strange. Larry n0sa |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Justin, ? Yes, as the manual states any 12V, which is actually a 13.8V, source is acceptable to power and charge the X5105. ? Brian K0FBS ? -- Brian K0FBS |
Re: Soft case for the X5105??
The PL-660 soft case fits -just! Nothing else -just the radio. It's what I'm using. On Fri, Jan 29, 2021, 7:31 AM Larry Naumann <n0sa@...> wrote: I found a case on Amazon that should work.? |

I found a case on Amazon that should work.?
I stopped ordering anything directly from China as it takes so long to get it. You may pay a bit more on Amazon but can return it if it is not right. The case I ordered should fit just the radio with maybe a tad room to spare. I have separate cases for all the other stuff I take on SOTA ops. Larry n0sa |
Re: Soft case for the X5105??
I have used a canvas backpack so far.? And being a "collector of stuff that should be handy to have",? I have a small leather purse that the radio will just barely fit into.? But that fills it up - no room for the mic!? Depending on what you actually want and need, the 'principle' might work, though.? Purses made of actual? leather are a lot less common in thrift shops these days, though.? But there are a LOT of used purses in stores like our local Goodwill.
Others have earlier mentioned cases like the Pelicans and the Harbor Freight versions of them, but they're not soft cases.? A good-sized 'fanny pack' seems like it would work well, and be available somewhere. You can use the radio without the external mike, but what do you plan to use for an antenna?? And how will you carry that, and the lead-in wire or cable?? Of course, maybe you already do portable ops with other equipment and are already set up for the accessories, and just this radio is new, replacing another one. -- Doug, K8RFT |

I am wondering if the X5105 doesn¡¯t have much (if any) ALC for the ACC input? I see an AGC setting in the menu options but nothing for ALC. WSJT-X has a feature to save the AF-Out level per band, so this must not be an uncommon issue. I have been playing with option a bit and find that I just have to tweak the settings a bit when switching bands from day to day. It is a bit touchy but not unreasonable. For now, I¡¯ll just keep taking some notes per band. Thanks again :-) Joe On Jan 9, 2021, at 12:36 PM, Brian <k0fbs73@...> wrote: |

Very Nice. From experience, that would certainly be helpful for the toolbox when prototyping to ensure the connections before soldering. :-) This is the cable I purchased and cut in half:
This is exactly right. I did have to remove some of the plastic for it to seat firmly in the X5105 ACC connection. It would be better to but one that has an extended barrel if one could be found, but it wasn¡¯t too difficult. This is the TRRS connector I purchased: Here is the pinout for the connections. TRRS ACC ----- ----- T (Left) <-> AF IN R (Right) N/C R (GND) <-> GND S (Mic) <-> AF OUT Joe K9SZ On Jan 8, 2021, at 10:48 AM, Mike Colyar <mike@...> wrote: |
