Bioenno lithium iron battery

I¡¯m not sure if this was covered here or not but picked up one of these great little batteries and wanted to share my thoughts on it.?

Bioenno Power model BLF-1203
12V 3AH 36W hours lithium iron Phosphate ?battery.?

You can draw a constant 3 amps and a max surge of 6 amps. This battery weighs only?0.8 lbs. (0.4 kg.)

the battery can run the X5105 a long long time and takes only 2 hours to charge.?

the Bioenno Pwer company also sells the for charger for $20. And I¡¯m pretty sure it will charge all or their batteries in case you want to own more then one. I plan to buy a larger 30A battery to support my Yaesu FT 991A.?

here is a link to the company:

anyway, I¡¯m I¡¯m also planning to purchase the LightSaver Max Portable Solar Generator. From what I¡¯ve read, they are of the highest quality on the market but they are not cheep. They are also sold out and won¡¯t be caught up on production until March or so. If anyone owns one of these, I would love to hear your thoughts! ?Here is the link for this power option that seems to be both comparable and a perfect fit for the X5105 field operator.

?

thanks for reading and 70+3 hi hi

Computer Rig Control -

I saw a note on the Xiegu G90 group that said that the G90 now had FLRig computer control support.
Checking up on that to see if the X5105 is included, I found that it is!? Or at least it looks like that.
Here's my source:

I only learned this a few minutes ago, and have not yet done anything about testing it.
Maybe you can do it first!

Hi Tony

Did you succeed in finding the schematics of the xiegu X5105?

It sounds like you needed to order one of these, too -->

from eBay.? (But you would have needed to really plan ahead - delivery from Taiwan is estimated at 3 to 8 weeks!? I did order one, though, and it worked very well in my initial tests.? As long as I connected a counterpoise wire too.

It's a telescoping whip with BNC connector and loading coil for 20 meters.? Mounts right on the radio, and you have a 20 M. walkie-talkie.

The radio doesn't care much about the source, just the voltage is within factory specs and the current capability is high enough.
I suppose there could be problems if the supply had a LOT of noise in its output, but there's no way to know that in advance (except maybe in reviews).
The (earlier version)X5105 manual from MFJ says "13..8 vdc +/- 15% (9-15 vdc); Current: RX, 500 mA peak, TX 2.5 A. peak."
There's a "Charging" setting referred to in the manuals, too.? In "Charge" mode, you should not transmit while charging.? ?The manual says "The total current could exceed the capacity of the radio's power management components."? (It didn't say what the other mode is!)

Service Manual / Schematics

Giovanni D

Hi
I'm looking for the Service Manual or at least schematics of the xiegu X5105. I Need these documents because I have a broken Transceiver I would like to repair.
Thank you in advance for every Information and tip
Best regards from Switzerland

Re: CW Messages.

Rock Dubois

Thank you to all who replied and helped. Everything is working fine now both by pushing the XFE on the mike or the PTT on the radio.
Sorry for the late feedback I have been busy with work.

73, to all

Re: CW Messages.

Justin I am not aware of that capability in the 5105. It may be possible but I don¡¯t think so.

Re: CW Messages.

I just scanned through most of the comments here on this thread so excuse me if this came up but I was able to transmit the message by quick pushing MSG button on the bottom right, then make sure your 1 of 10 messages is listed and not blank. It will display your pre message on the bottom right. Then just push the PTT on the back side of the radio and message will play. After it transmits your message, radio returns to receive and you can PTT to replay the message again. I have not tried this with the hand mic PTT.?

I wonder if it¡¯s possible to play the message over and over with pre set time in receive between the transmits.?

Re: My battery charger for the Xiegu X5105

Thanks Doug,
I actually need to correct my question but I think you understood the question.?

I originally asked ¡°is it ok to operate the X5105 at an external power source¡±
I meant to ask if it was ok to operate the X5105 while using the MFJ3240DMP as an external power source.?

So, I received the X5105 on Saturday, the coax and a new multi band dipole came yesterday, the small 3.2oz CW paddles come on Wednesday but the MFJ power supply, not sure when that will arrive. I placed the order on Friday, called them yesterday to confirm the order and they told me ¡°they have my order, the item is in stock and should be shipped out by the end of the week¡± I was like what, the end of the week? Hi hi, like I needed it last week. Oh well. In the meantime, we are in the a snow storm here in up state New York and it¡¯s a great time to hang an antenna, I think. Lol.?

Re: Won't retain some CW Bandwidth settings

Larry Naumann

I don't know who is writing the firmware for the X5105 but I had a G90 and it took them forever to correct some crazy issues with the CW filters.
They eventually got it squared away. Seems to me that more effort is put into digital mode issues.
This particular issue is that that big a
deal to me but it took me awhile to find out what was happening.
I wish this list had more participation.

Hi Larry,?

Didn't want you to go too long without someone acknowledging your question. That is an odd behavior. I don't work CW so I will let those guys respond with something helpful.?

Won't retain some CW Bandwidth settings

Larry Naumann

I have a brand new X5105 with version 3.0 firmware.
There is a strange anomaly with the memory and bandwidth settings.
When I set the tone to 700 Hz and Lower cut off to 600 and upper cutoff to 800 the radio will not recall these settings after
a power cycle. If I set Lower cutoff to 575 and Upper cutoff to 825, the radio will remember the settings.
Kind of strange.

Re: X5105 charger type question

Thanks Brian!
I figured 30 a 30 amp power supply would not matter, the rig will only draw a max current of 3amps. I just wanted to make sure that it would also charge the internal batter too. In other words, a 3 amp or a 30 amp regulated switching power supply should not matter, so long the 13.8 voltage remains steady and constant if that¡¯s correct.?

again, thank you for responding.?

Re: X5105 charger type question

Hi Justin,

?

Yes, as the manual states any 12V, which is actually a 13.8V, source is acceptable to power and charge the X5105.

Re: Soft case for the X5105??

The PL-660 soft case fits -just!
Nothing else -just the radio.
It's what I'm using.

I stopped ordering anything directly from China as it takes so long to get it.
You may pay a bit more on Amazon but can return it if it is not right.
The case I ordered should fit just the radio with maybe a tad room to spare.
I have separate cases for all the other stuff I take on SOTA ops.
