Re: There is hope for hardware support!!!!
There is no known kit for the 5105 yet. He stated he is inquiring about one.
If you search the topics you will also find some information on a replacement battery since they cannot be air-shipped. I believe they were in the neighborhood of $80 but that was months ago when they were in stock. |
There is hope for hardware support!!!!
A Christmas present from Radioddity.? A spare pats kit for G90 and X6100!? I sent a message to Radioddity asking if there will be a kit for the X5105 and the G106.? Hopefully the answer will be yes.? I'll let you know what they report back.? It is not perfect but it is a step forward!!
The Xiegu Spare Parts Kit is the solution for maintaining your Xiegu G90 and Xiegu X6100. Xiegu makes these original accessories and ensures a perfect fit and superior quality. The kit can prolong your radio¡¯s lifespan. You can confidently replace the worn-out parts, ensuring your radio operates at its best for longer. ?
Please note that this kit does not include tools. Additionally, having the appropriate hands-on ability when handling these accessories is important. We encourage you to do what you can but ask for professional assistance when needed. -- Thank you, Randy AB9GO |
Low power output?
I was recently transmitting 20m SSTV using the DroidSSTV phone app which has no cat control so I toggled the PPT to "press on/press off" so I wouldn't have hold the mic button down through the cycle. I must have gotten called away for some reason while it was transmitting and it may have been 30-45 minutes before I returned to find the SSTV cycle had completed and radio still in transmit mode (red light on). Since that time the power meter seems to only register 1 to 3 watts in digital modes depending on the band, 17m being the most, 40m being the least. SSB output seems a bit higher but neither mode seems to push the meter to 5 watts.
I don't have test equipment to verify the accuracy of the power output meter but I'm wondering if I damaged something during the prolonged transmit event that would affect the rf output. BTW, I don't recall the radio being being overly warm when I turned off transmit and I've since made some FT8 contacts, one with and rst of +10 from about 1,100 miles away. I've also compared the X5105 tx and rx with my X6100 and the X5105 rx seems to to have lost some sensitivity when I do a side by side comparison of FT8 signals decoded. Any thoughts would be appreciated.? |
Re: 5105 and DE19
Thanks. I was not specific enough. I was referring to the radio preference?settings in WJTS-X or? JTDX. Re: Xiegu x5105
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Larry, ? I am primarily a CW operator but will take a stab here at troubleshooting. Infrequently, when I first apply power to my X5105 and my manual tuner is set to a different band, when I press the key the rig transmits for a few seconds and stops. That gives me enough time to realize my tuner is not set to the same band and the impedance mismatch allows the unit to transmit only for a few seconds and shutdown. ? So, just wondering what you are using for a load and if it could be that there is a mismatch and it is showing the same conditions that I experience upon key-down? You may try transmitting into a dummy load to see if it behaves the same. ? Best 73, Lou N2JPR ? Sent from for Windows ? From: LARRY HAMRE

X5105 Battery insides
Well, it happened to me, one day perfect battery then I put the radio away I come back and now completely dead after sitting in the box awaiting my next field trip.? Very frustrating to say the least.? Since "no user repairable items inside" never scared me and I am sure most of the folks on this board either... I took the battery out to ensure that it was not festering, like an iPhone battery to the point it crushes the motherboard.? In fact, the battery looked fine.? I know, looks are deceiving.? So, I tried to charge it... nope.? So, I have this dead battery on my desk and an xacto knife within reach, I said heck with it and cut the casing to find as I suspected 3, 3.7ish Lithium batteries in series with a cell balancer.? I unsoldered the balancer and immediately the batteries sighed a sigh of relief and came up.... So, I charged them with a "real battery charger" and low and behold after 4 charges and discharges I have full power.? So, the batteries are fine¡ the balancer is making us buy battery's we can¡¯t find and don¡¯t need.? I have included my exploded (pun intended) picture of the battery pack and a closeup of the balancer with the manufacturer¡¯s kindly buffed off IC tops.? There is a way to wake up an upset battery balancer.? Can anyone look at the close up of this balancer and tell me where I might need to hit it with some voltage to reset it?? I'll let everyone know if it works and maybe save a few batteries from a land fill... or recycle box?. Tom AE5NF |
