Re: Serial numbers and dates

Hi,

I ordered my X5105 from Radioddity on August 12, 2020 and received it on August 18, 2020.
The serial number is X0301627. It was sent from the warehouse in Berlin.

Re: Great Rig

Hi,

I am also a new member. Ive owned my X5105 for week or 3 now.
I checked my firmware version and it says V3.0.0, Nov 26 2019, 16:18:50.
Is that the latest build, called V3.0.0 build 008?
I checked Xiegu downloads and found the newest firmware. The filedate says: X5105_App_V3.00_build008.xgf? date: 26 Nov. 2019
reason to ask is because Rick K9ETE is reporting Firmware 3.0.7

Well, I watched OM0ET's video again, and he DOES describe his antenna.? It's a spiral wound on a fiberglass rod, sort of like a "hamstick", and made for the 11 meter band.? He said it's less than 4 feet long, and was made for use on a CB Walkie Talkie.? I checked on those radios and they seem to use the BNC connector, like the X5105 does.? The closest thing to that I found was one about 27 inches tall.
When 10 meters finally comes back, one of those little whips could be very handy.

Thanks for that very helpful information!? I had seen those antennas in MFJ's catalog, and wondered how good they are.

Great Rig

Just a comment from a new member. Ive owned my X5105 for about a year now and recently updated the firmware to ver 3.0.7.
It has resolved my CW issue and seems to have bettered the noise floor. This afternoon I worked a station in Slovania on 20m SSB at 5 watts and a ground mounted vertical. I was very impressed with the 5 x 8 report I was given. Up until now I havent used the radio much but will in the future. I have plans to do some POTA work in the future using this rig.

Latest update.

Today I received the new mike for the X5105 from CSI.
On this one the keypad on the mike respond. I also tried the old mike with the new mile's cable but it doesn't work. Yes, the original mike that came with the radio was defective.
That is the good news but pushing the XFE key still doesn't send the cw message. All other functions seems to work, I can tune, change mode, etc... but not send cw messages.
I must miss something but what?

Re: CW Messages.

Brian,

you might be right but the radio was traded for my G90. I am OK the way it works now but still have to try the remote and digital mode with the MiniProSC.
Will see if the new mike's keypad works.

Thank you for all who replied.

I am starting to suspect a bad chip on the mother board. You might want to send the whole radio back.?

Re: CW Messages.

As I mentioned the menus are different which is fine. The only annoying difference is that their is no indication of which digit is selected for tuning. To know which one you have to tune and see which one is changing.
When I receive the new mike from CSI I'll check with both the old and new firmware and of course I'll update here.

Re: CW Messages.

Update:
I did flash the5105 with the only older firmware I could find on Radiodditty which is X5105_FW_V1_0_06_build002_beta02.xgf and now I can send the message from the keys on the radio.
Just like in Fred's VE3FAL video.
Menu is totally different and after the normal power off and power on none of the keys on the radio were responding and I feared having it bricked but after power off a few times it came back
to life. The big question is which features are missing and what bugs that had been solved will now be back. None of the keys on the mike keypad are responding but I did order a new mike and
will see if that one works. If it does I'll go back to the latest firmware and see if it sends the message with pressing the XFC key.

I'll update here as soon as I get the mike.

Brian,

that is the first thing I checked. The mike is on external and I did several QSO on SSB with no problem.
No, I didn't take it as overbearing just trying to help and I am grateful for that.

Yvon,

Not to sound overbearing but because it happens...

Have you checked the menu settings to be sure the external mic is active?

It is a long shot as it looks like he doesn't have his 5105. I'll report here if I get a reply or find a solution. This is really the only negative I found on the radio.

Re: CW Messages.

Actually, I wouldn't really expect to find a CW function on a mic!

The mic sure looks the same as the G90's, and the X5105 manual description says there's at least one button that does nothing on the X5105.? So I'm pretty sure it's not special or dedicated to the X5105.? Plus, a few other features or details seem to be the same in both X5105? and G90, which suggests that the mic is not unique to either one.? It does seem different from the X108 mic, though.

Hopefully we'll get more members and there'll be someone who has more knowledge of the products.? The X5105? has been around for about 3 years already, and other models even longer.

Re: CW Messages.

Rock Dubois

I found how to but there is no response hitting any key on the mike keypad. This is the mike that came with my new G90 a few months ago. I traded the G90 for the X5105 but never used the keypad
with the G90. As I don't have the G90 anymore I can't test it with the G90. My question now is: are the mike for the G90 and for the X5105 different or interchangeable as I though they would be?

Thanks and 73,
