Check the "help" page at

for help with uploading files.? They 'key' here might be the need to click the "New" button mentioned in the instructions.
It doesn't mention any limitations for the free groups.

Ken,

Mike is right, with the group being a free group the file upload feature is limited.? The list owner might be able to add a file.? Otherwise, posting it in a message as you did is the best we can do

Ken,

I¡¯m not sure but I think that our group is a Basic group which means that it is free but also means that some of the functions are not enabled. Investigate Pricing to see what I mean.

There is probably some trick that normal mortals like you and I are unaware of. This calls for the moderator to offer advice perhaps. Or any other more expert person. In other words, anyone.

I think this is important. I¡¯ll go and play about with something innocuous like the Declaration of Independence and see how much trouble I can get into.

If you can get it into a universal format like PDF, I don¡¯t see why it would not be a good idea to put in the files area on this forum. I would be most grateful.

Re: GSOC on X5105 - dissapointed

Peter -
Thanks for posting your information (review).? I've been curious about the GSOC, although I can't imagine one ever fitting into my budget.?
I thought these were still in the development stage, although I did see recently that some 'trial' models had been released.? They've been 'announced' for quite a while - long before any release.? Don't give up - it may be like the X5105, with firmware development still continuing 2 years after initial release.

Re: GSOC on X5105 - dissapointed

Peter,

So sorry to hear that. I had hoped the GSOC would be a very helpful add-on for X5105. I think their intention was to be a Xeigu version of the Flex Maestro. That is what I hoped it would be (minus the wireless remote capabilities of the Maestro). Perhaps they will have some new firmware updates in the near future to make it what it should be.

GSOC on X5105 - dissapointed

Hi,

just received my GSOC for my X5105 today (FW 1.2 installed) but after a quick look in the manual and sorting the cabling (IF out and the standard X5101 comm cable) the GSOC turned out to be nothing more than an expensive waterfall display. I played around about 1 hour and found out a few things:
- frequency and mode change initiated from GSOC work
- if display works (but would also work with a cheap SDR dongle and HDSRD grabbing at 70MHz)
- GSOC does not recognize TX mode (if i hook up the mic on GSOC instead of X5105, GSOC switches to TX mode but no TX initiated on X5105)
- GSOC SWR scan does not work (though X5105 seems to turn off squelch during check initiated from GSOC but thats it) - SWR check on X5105 can be initiated via menue, but in that case the display stays on X5101
- Filters can be clicked but no change on TRX
- Queueing of CW or PSK stored messages on GSOC dont initinate tranmission on X5105 (did not hook it up to antenna, will check during next days if at least RX decoding would work)
- no menue for WLAN/BT on GSOC (but maybe I did simply not find it as I did not spend much time today)

So short summary of quick check so far: nothing beside frequency and mode change seem to work, probalby waterfall display works, will check with antenna during next days.
Hopefully I will discover more things but for now it seems to be only benficial if you own a G90 radio - for X5105, which has already all you need its just a pricey display.

Re: External amp keying

Hi Doug,

The picture in the link is the previous model of the CE-19. The picture as I sent some messages earlier is the current CE-19.

It started with me searching for a PTT in for exactly the same reason you have Doug, I also want to use my headset microphone.
I had assumed that PTT is made by connecting PTT and GND in the MIC connection with a switch. Unfortunately this is not true.
Next I wrote an email to Xiegu in China requesting information. There was never an answer.
After that I sent an email to Radioddity support and got a very quick response. However, the answer was exactly the same as in the manual and what is not correct.
Also support David from Radioddity wrote that it worked exactly as the microphone of the IC-7000. That is absolutely not true because I have an IC-7000 at my disposal and that's how it works, PTT is by pressing the switch on the microphone, connected to GND.
After I mailed this to David from Radioddity he was insulted and I received a reply:

//
Hi,

?

There is no way I can change the microphone designations from Icom or Xiegu. So far, the others that have offered desk mics for sale, made adapters, or are using other mics find the PTT circuit quite satisfactory. I am sorry you cannot.

?

Cheers,

//

The solution I then applied works well but is a workaround. The PTT switch, which is on the top left, can be set via the menu 6 as 'normal' and 'Toggle'. I set it to Toggle and then the X5105 goes into TX and when the transmission is ready I press again and then the X5105 goes into RX. it's not elegant but it works.

Additional info ->
I found some relevant description at

Where it says
"

The Xiegu CE-19 expansion port simplifies connection of?a PC or other data terminals, modems etc for digital mode operation.?The expansion unit extends the MINI-DIN8 interface to commonly used 3.5mm stereo sockets.

The unit also extends the MINI-DIN6 interface for the XPA125 amplifier interface independently so you can connect both a PC and an linear amplifier simultaneously.

Any third party hardware that needs a PTT input can be connect ?to the CE-19 PTT output. An onboard relay separates and amplifier to protect your X5105 transceiver.

A yellow LED indicates that the CE-19 is powered from the X5105 and a red LED lights up when PTT is active."

I also notes what comes with the CE-19 - -

In the box

  • 1 x CE-19 expansion port
  • 1 x Mini-DIN cable to connect X5105 with CE-19
  • 3 x 1 meter cable with stereo 3.5 connector/open end
  • 3 x 3.5 mm teleplug (slim type to fit X5105).

I found this while looking for info about a "hoped for" PTT INput.? Apparently it's only possible with the MIC jack.? But I might have to test and find out what happens if I press the Morse code CW key - while in SSB mode.? (I want to connect a headset/mic unit.)

At
I also found a review of the CE-19 that saysi use the ce-19 for interfacing my g90 and x5105 with my xpa125b amp, and for digital ops...what a lot of folks do not know is that the ce-19 also allows you to use your xiegu with other amplifiers!connect your amp's keying line to the PTT CON port, which is a simple 2- or 3-pole stereo plug? i use my mx-p50m amp with the ce-19 and it is perfect!"

And I found another picture of the 'guts' of the CE-19 at

It shows lots of detail of the board and the parts mounted on it.

Re: X5105 charger type question

Those are the ratings of my charger, as referred to above.? It works.
It does not seem to have damaged the radio.
Your charger will need to have the right sized connector.? 5.5x2.5 mm.

CTCSS tone

I'm trying to connect to a 6m repeater that requires a tone of 100Hz.

In the manual its shows a CTCSS option under the 'System menu'.
However the latest firmware 3.0 that came on my device does not have these options anymore.

Is there another way to turn on a PL tone?

Re: X5105 charger type question

I love that we have a great active community on here for the X5105.

Thank you Dick and Doug for your responses!

Dick you're are right I missed the voltage, yes I have a 13.8V 2A CC-CV power supply already.

I guess I should be more specific.? As you have show from the other post (which I did see), the X5105 shouldn't draw over 2A when its turned off and just charging.

So my specific question is can I use a 13.8V 2A CC-CV power supply to charge the X5105 without damaging it in some way?

Regards,

Andy

Andy -
Read the first post made to this group -
/g/X5105-Users/topic/my_battery_charger_for_the/75611521?p=,,,20,0,0,0::recentpostdate%2Fsticky,,,20,2,20,75611521

It links to a youtube video demonstrating the current drawn by the X5105 under many different conditions, from 'off and charging' to transmit at full power.? (And other worthwhile info, too!)

But to sum up, with the radio OFF but charging, it drew 0.38 amps.

However, you? did not say what your charger's voltage rating is.? That makes it pretty hard to actually answer your question.
