DE19 use with a Mac

Has anyone been successful??

According to the situation, it would be better to change to a Windows system to work with the DE-19, which may be more compatible. Hope that explains to you. Regards,NoraRadioddity Support Team

Re: V/M function not working

Hmm. I thought that maybe it wouldn't shift to memory mode without at least one memory have something in it. But if I understand how it works, I need to shift to memory mode to put anything in a memory! Ouch! Catch 22.

The VFOs seem to hold their contents. Wouldn't a dead backup battery affect that?

I thought it might be a bad switch but both switches are dead.

Hope I don't have to reload software as I don't own a windows computer. I had to send it to Radioddity to get it to where it is now.

Mike

Re: V/M function not working

If it has been stored long enough for the back-up power source to be depleted, memory data could be lost. ?No saved frequencies means the radio may not switch to memory mode?

V/M function not working

Digging the rig out after a long time and I cannot switch to memory from VFO. Neither the front panel V/M button or the one on the Mic works. Stuck in VFO mode.

I have done a RESET but that doesn't fix it.

Lock button and backlight ver 3.0.0

I am using 3.0.0 Nov 27 2019 16:18:50 firmware. I got this from Radioddity. I have seen people mention release 3.0.0 6 or 8 of this firmware. Is there something newer than 3.0.0 Nov 27? Still trying to get the backlight to work. 73 John N4HNO?

Backlight

I can adjust the contrast but the backlight setting doesn't do anything. What am I missing?

To rebuild the battery, you will need to order new batteries.? I ordered everything on ebay:

1)????? 3 X 3.7 V 4000Ah Polymer Li Battery Model code PL 3766125; cell size 3.7mm (thick) x 66mm (width) X 125mm (Length) the capacity is 4000mAh.? The battery has a PCM installed and I asked the vendor to remove them.

2)????? Some replacement Kapton tape

3)????? Double stick tape

4)????? Blue PVC Shrink wrap for battery packs 30mm X 400mm X 1 meter (smallest length you can order).? It is a very low temperature shrink wrap so you need enough to resolve a mistake.

?

5)????? A soldering iron.

With an xacto carefully remove the outer shrink wrap skin and do not cut a battery!? This is what is inside.?

?

Keep everything you can, reuse it except for the shrink wrap skin.? If it is sticky it will stick on the new battery.

Remove the cardboard on top of the Battery Management board and unsolder the board from the battery.

BE CAREFUL ALWAYS TO NOT SHORT OUT THE BATTERY!!!!!? Rebuild the Battey exactly the way you took it apart!

The battery is a series pack:

This the bottom of the Battery Manager.? The top of the manager has 4 solder points.? One for 0v or neg, one for 3.7v, 7.4v and 11.1.? When replacing the Battery manager ensure the battery connection to the board equals the appropriate voltages on the battery. ?REMEMBER the battery will arrive nearly fully charged!!!!! So do not short it out soldering the battery to the board!!!!!

?

Here is how it looks while reassembling the battery:

?

?

At this point I have a nearly fully charged battery connected to a battery management board so I should have 11.1v plus or minus at the connector but when I measured it I got zero volts.? My first thought was oh well failure¡ wait for replacement batteries to come from China.? But then I remembered to put a 12v 500ma charge on the + - for about 6 seconds and It turned on.? I replaced the battery in the radio using double stick tape on the back wall of the radio and charged it.

It charged to around 12.2230 v and proclaimed the battery was charged.

I then turned the radio on and let it run for what seemed like forever until the battery manager shut the battery down and the radio off.

I then charged it again until the battery manager proclaimed the battery was full and claimed victory.

I already had everything except the batteries and shrink wrap sleeve.? The total cost of the rebuild was $7.99 plus tax free shipping for the shrink wrap, and $11.31 plus $3.50 shipping and a little tax for the three batteries. The batteries shipped from China to Texas in 13 days during the Christmas shipping spree.

5105 key clicks on CW

I have had my 5105 for a couple of years and like it.? I was monitoring my keying on a receiver with the RF gain turned down and heard distinct clicks when I released the paddle.? The clicks were not present on all characters sent, just when I let up on the paddle after a string of characters with a slight delay.? It did this with a Bencher paddle and also when I used a bug. Other radios work fine with the paddle and bug.? Has anyone experienced this?? I haven't had any complaints on CW QSOs but wondered is this typical?? Setting related?

No hurry and thank you very much for being willing to help us with your experience doing this. My X5105 is starting to get long in the tooth and so it'll be good to have this information.

Re: There is hope for hardware support!!!!

Edited

p.s.? ?if you need just the battery, please let them know.? A battery would be a logical item to carry as a separate replacement part?

Re: There is hope for hardware support!!!!

Got another reply from Radioddity today.? I think that they're not seeing the need to release a kit as of yet. If you have a problem with your radio that you can't source the parts please let them know. If they sense a demand, it looks like they will make one from the reply.? Don't give up keep on trying.? ?

Dear Randy,
?
Thanks a lot for reaching out to Radioddity support, I am Nora. I apologize in advance for my late reply due to the weekend break.
?
I got the news that the spare parts kits for the X5105 and G106 won't be released in the short future. Thanks for your kind understanding.
?
If there is anything I can do for you, please do not hesitate to contact Radioddity support to get timely help.

Re: There is hope for hardware support!!!!

I sent them a very polite message requesting the same, along with my willingness to purchase such a kit, in the hopes that some of these requests make it back to the manufacturer.

Radioddity sent me a reply.? As I said before, contact them and let Radioddity know you're interested:

Hi Randy,
?
Thanks for your?email.

For X5105 and G106, we still need time to see whether it's worth doing so because they are not as popular as G90 and X6100. Anyway we'll try to communicate with Xiegu for that.
?
Thanks for your support!
