Re: 5105 and xiegu xpa125B amplifier

To be honest, on the receiving end there won't be much difference between say, 75 watts and 100 watts.? I think the real value in this amp is the ability to provide a bit of a kick when the band conditions aren't great or when using a sub-standard antenna and QRP won't cut it.? I just ordered one myself to use with m x5105 as a bring along for when I find I need more than QRP while on site.? I like the X5105 enough that I'm giving up my FT-857D.

The tiny 9:1 balun will be for a long wire. I forgot to mention that.?

Great set up! Have you ever thought of using a single 40m endfed? It resonates well on 40,20,15 and 10.? ?I use one from KM4ACK and it works great.??

Re: QRP antennas

That is great news. Congratulations on Serbia.

Your 6m antenna looks like a fascinating antenna for backpacking. Looking forward to your next report.

At least you remember that you do have two!
I keep finding things that I don't remember getting (or having).

Re: Computer Rig Control -

Also, Xiegu says that you can use the setting for "IC-7000" - but that not all commands work.? They do NOT say which will and/or which will not.? I have used the IC-7000 for testing too, and did have some control.

FYI, Ive upgraded to FLrig 1.3.54 on my pi and can not get the X5105 to work correctly while selecting the X5105 as the rig.? If I select the G90 as the rig all works well.? Not sure what got messed up but something did.

Clarification - I can get it to work by connecting the radio directly to the USB hub, but when I try to use the CE-19 it won't connect.

What/how are you trying to connect (to) with the CE-19?? It has audio signals (input & output), "band data" voltage for the linear amp, and PTT - also an output to the linear amp.? It would have nothing to do with HRD, except for possibly the audio signals (for digital modes, like FT8).

If you list ALL your settings here, maybe we can help you better.

Re: HRD Settings

I use 19,200 8N1, but I'm not controlling with HRD - WSJT-X does the controlling here and HRD5 Log just does the logging,? I don't use the rest of HRD yet.? My USB-to-Serial adapter has its DTR pin wired to the PTT signal input of my IC-706MkII.? No CTS or RTS used.? For the IC-7000, you set the PTT to "USB" and DTR/CTS/RTS are not used (not applicable).

I think the X5105's port speed must be automatic!? I've not found a way to set it, but ti worked at 19,200 and the firmware upgrade instructions suggest setting the serial port speed at 115,200 bps.? But there are no instructions for setting the radio's port speed, and as you've seen, there isn't anywhere in the radio's menu system to set it either.

Re: 5105 or 5105 pro or ?

A good price!? When I ordered mine last June, it was about $460.? And that was with a discount off their then-current listed price.

Does anyone know the Ham Radio Deluxe settings to communicate with the x5105?? In know to use the IC-7000 emulation but what is the port speed, and CTS, DTR, and RTS settings??

Thanks

Re: Looks like I've joined the x5105 club

I ordered my x5105 on Feb 16 and am playing with now in my shack on Feb 20.? Made a couple of contacts in the DX Contest with it.

So far? - very impressed with this little radio.? A bit more white noise in the receiver but the NR and DSP helps quite a bit.? Receiver front end seems decent - wasn't getting wiped out by the contest stations.

Now - to learn all the functions.

I ordered my 5105 from Radioddity last Tuesday and am sitting in my station playing with it today.? $499 including shipping and the CE-19.
