I also hear a white noise when charging and thought it was typical behavior. I think the noise is possibly there when operating, too.
As a work around, I inserted one of the provided stereo plugs as a dummy into the speaker output to silent it. Since I operate primarily at my desk using FT8 with a headless Raspberry Pi, not hearing the audio doesn¡¯t affect me. So, I ended up just leaving it inserted.
It is encouraging that others are not having this same issue. I¡¯ll take a look at my power supply output soon.
